well I ordered Enjoy the Violence now. It's a rare import - maybe takes 2 weeks til I get it.. but fuck it the awesomeness of it makes it worthwhile. Relistened to "Ultimate antichrist" (probably my favorite track) The riff stucks in my head all the time..

well I believe for a newbie(not from this board - I know you all know your stuff) who is just getting into thrash-metal it isn't that good. I mean it's the same when you want to learn car racing and make a formula 1 race as first. You should learn the basics first. Same with playing music. I wouldn't recommend some of those bands cause they're too technical and complex for a listener who is just getting into it..
I'd recommend:
Metallica - Ride the lightning
then: Slayer's South of Heaven/Reign in blood
maybe then: Exodus - bonded by blood, Testament - the new order...
that is really no offence because that's a great list but it's just my opinion ;)

To be fair, anybody whp's jsut getting into thrash will have heard that crap anyway. never start them off on the 'obvious' stuff because that leads to the danger of them thinking that all thrash sounds like that. And that my friend, is fucking retarded

Seriously. I wish i kidding, but I've actually come across people who've said that albums like Idolatry and Tortured Existence aren't thrahs because they don't sound like Ride the Lightning. believe it or not, there are people that stupid in the world.

EDIT: Also, no idea why I included Torque and Nailbomb on that list...

Yeah you're right about that..the kids today also just think all those metalcore stuff is the way forward but never heard "real" metal.
When I started listening to music I haven't rarely listened to metal when I was about 15/16.. I went thru bands like billy idol (my dad got me into it),AC/DC, Foo fighters, rage against the machine.. I just got into the real hard stuff a few years ago when I was at school yet and a mate from there got me into all those awesome bands like Death, meshuggah etc.. but I also got into some stuff thru coincidence like Evile.
And now Iam at that point where I know almost everything or have already listened to all the stuff in Death/thrash/metal..

Trust me, you've not heard all the thrash stuff. Not even me and that slapheaded sexy beast Joe have heard ALL of the thrash stuff - maybe all of the stuff that's worth giving a shit about, but there's always going to be a few bands, albums or demos that've escaped us. That being said, I've heard more bands than most - because I actively search for it haha. Mokids these days expect everything to be handed to them, whereas the only way I found more (and more obscure) bands was by digging.

Google is your friend. Failing that, ask me

yeah I just meant the more "wellknown" bands (as far as possible).. I also haven't rarely listened to everything of every genre.
I just checked out a band called Abattoir today which never crossed my way. But it was something I've heard such stuff a thousand times before.
I research underground bands mostly on youtube - but you
already got me into some really obscure stuff man.. :Smokedev:

^ will do man (If I have the time..)

just thought this is also awesome:

searched for the album "Virgin Speed" but couldn't find it nowhere though..

Man I'm sure I haven't even heard 5% of all the thrash out there! I know hundreds of bands and albums but even that is just skimming the surface... but that's where the joy lies! You never know when you're going to go digging and unearth some awesome gem! It's great to know that there is still more treasure out there...

Ha ha, great choice ;)

I recommend all this thrash... most is criminally unknown. Honestly, get all these albums, they're all awesome...
