Recomend me some music! thread

Violent Revolution has about three good songs on it, including the single. Fair enough, it was a transitionary album, but it was still pretty dire. How anybody can call Enemy of God boring is beyond me!

I've got The Legacy, Souls of Black, The New Order and Formation of Damnation, and I would have to say Souls of Black is my favourite. I started with The Legacy though which is a great album too.

Seems to be anything with Alex Skolnick on is good really.

Souls of Black is your favourite? No way, weird. I guess it has some good songs on but the production renders most of it pretty disgusting to me.

Legacy and The New Order (the first two albums) are my favourites, both proper old school thrash, fairly melodic but still quite aggressive. First Strike Still Deadly is a good bet if you want to hear a bunch of songs from those albums with much better awesome Andy Sneap production :) But sadly they didn't re-do my favourite song Apocalyptic City.

Practice What You Preach (the third album) is also pretty awesome, the songs get a bit more technical and even slightly progressive in places.

The Ritual has a couple of great songs but overall is way less thrashy and thus a bit disappointing. Worth a spin though.

Despite massive hype and everyone saying they're ace I've got to say that I'm not in love with The Gathering or Formation Of Damnation. Chuck growls a lot now instead of singing and the focus is on being super massive heavy instead of having super beasting riffs and loads of fastness like in the old days. shame really. There are still a couple of songs I like on both albums though.

All the stuff I've heard from Formation of Damnation was crap. More Than Meets the Eye is great, but all the stuff with the death growls just sucks.

The New Order is great, but Pratice What You Preach lacks in almost every aspect.

That's the extent of my knowledge.

Or there's Into the Pit and Over the Wall in one :p

Personally I think that intro works better for this song, thats probably because I heard it for Over the Wall first.

Can anyone recommend me some good newer Sodom stuff Agent orange afterwards?
I really digged M-16 recently and Code Red has some very decent songs. Help me anyone, Iam getting Sodom-atticted.

Better Off Dead and In War And Pieces are by far the best albums they ever did - everyone bums Agent Orange, but I never got it's full appeal. Their 2006 self-titled is stellar too, and it may be worth checking out Tapping the Vein, Get What You Deserve and Masquerade In Blood too.

Sodom never did a bad album. GWYD, MiB and 'Til Death Do Us Part were much more punk/crossover in places but they're still excellent albums. I'd say the only one that's not very good is The Final Sign of Evil, which was essentially what their debut EP was supposed to be - it's just not that good.

I always considered Sodom more Punk/Thrash anyhow.
Iam really amazed by M-16, I just was totally in the opinion Agent Orange is the big deal but they really have some awesome stuff on their newer albums.
Is Masquerade in blood worth to get?

Punk/thrash? Aside from the fact that punk was a massive influence on thrash as a genre, how the hell did you get that vibe from M16 or Agent Orange??

Masquerade In Blood is criminally underrated. As I said, just get everything the band did - but I still stand firm when I say that Better Off Dead and IWAP are their best albums
