Recomend me some music! thread

okay, so is there anyone in here with enough knowledge of Opeth? like i said yesterday, i was looking for new progressive metal to listen to. today i decided to check out Opeth and it sounds good.

so which albums would you recommend?

Keenan? your services are needed  you are also the one who got me into DT  or do you know any other good prog metal bands?

Opeth is an amazing band. All of their albums are amazing except for Heritage. That album is boring as hell. Don't get me wrong, I love Opeth's softer side. Damnation was brilliant, but Heritage is just lame.

Prog bands? The ones I listen to alot are Persefone, Cynic, Obscura, Atheist and Nevermore.

I'd agree with Keenan. I still like Heratige but it's not really comparable to Opeth's other stuff.
I went with My Arms Your Hearse first and I love that album.
Everyone says Blackwater Park and it is excellent. Also I'd said Ghost Reveries, thats a great album.

Just pick one of those 3 really.

Also for the extra 'prog metal' don't really like the term, but what Keenan said. Maybe Crack the Skye?

i downloaded and already heard ''My Arm, Your Hearse'' in its entirety and it is amazing. that's all i have to say

edit: also, i downloaded Crack The Skye a while ago and so far i only like Oblivion and Divinations

They are. That's all you need to know.

Breathing the Fire is a bit of a lacklustre album, but get Beyond the Permafrost and their newest one Forever Abomination. FA in particular is fucking incredible - it's worth the price for 'Reduced to the Failure of Prayer' alone.

Bumping with a recommendation of Blood Tsunami.

I've just started listening to 'em again after pretty much ignoring them for two years, mostly due to having a shitload of new stuff my way... wow. I forgot how killer they are. They did a cover of Steel Meets Steel for the Onslaught tribute too, which is - as expected - fucking excellent. What a brilliant bunch of lads they are - check out the instrumental 'Godbeater' from their debut.

What a silly question, I might go 'round your house and headbutt you in the face for asking such things. New Onslaught, worth your time? Elementary, my dear chipmonk - it's fucking MANDATORY. It's possibly their best, easily on par with (if not better than) The Force.

As for Carcass, Heartwork is grand but it's most certainly not their best. get Symphnies of Sickness and the almighty Necroticism: Descanting the Insalubrious. Then you can get Swansong and Reek of Putrefaction - the Wake Up And Smell The Carcass compilation is well worth your time too. Swansong is essentially Carcass cockrock, but it's great in it's own right.

Force of evil's both albums. It's basically Mercyful Fate, but without King Diamond on vocals (unfortunatly), all other members are from MF.

can someone recommend me some further Uk thrash bands?
I am only into (ofourse) EViLe, Re-Animator, Xentrix, Onslaught..
Iam not sure about Mutant but they sounded pretty cool.

savage messiah :)

and this isn't really a thrash song, but i think it's fucking brilliant
