Recomend me some music! thread

my only major influence to get SHKM is Rob's voice and Paul Bostaph (yes, I know he's done better albums). I've never heard a voice like that before so it got me interested.

Christ, if you want an album with Rob's vocals then just stick with Exhibit A. I really couldn't recommend SHKM... download Deathamphetamine and be done with it I say. You'd be wasting your money.

I bought it when it came out and couldn't fucking believe how mediocre it was.

Ignore Keenan. Exhibit B is impossible to listen to in one sitting without killing yourself - such a massive disappointment considering that a few riffs and sections on that albums are excellent. But it's just too fucking long, rehashed and repetitive.

I like Exodus but the long songs bore me. Honestly, if it is over 4 minutes long I start to lose interest. I have noticed that Exodus runs out of good ideas after the first 4 or 5 songs on an album. The recently released Generation Kill album which has Rob Dukes on vocals also suffers from these same problems.

I've always said that Souza was the jewel in Exodus' crown. Baloff was a shockingly bad vocalist, but an immense character with colossal stage presence - Rob Dukes just comes across as a rather flat, generic shouty frontman who has to be 'metal'. He'd be much better suited in a band like Hatebreed or something. But that being said, he didn't do too bad when I saw the band in 2008... I just think Souza was better in nearly every way.

If anybody wants a good 'modern' Exodus album, get Tempo of the Damned. Fucking immense album, that is.

To be fair, Devin has never released anything that could be called genuinely bad. Start with those, then try everything else - I'd recommend Deconstruction, but it'd probably be too much for a Devy newbie to handle as an introductory album

I agree with all of this.
