RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD

I need the recommenders to recommend me something that has immense replay value - and by that I don't mean an album that'll take you 10 listens just to get into, thereby making it an album with longevity. I want something that lasts and lasts and lasts...

I mean, the most replay I've ever got out of an album is probably high 30-40 listens, and most people find that laughable, but that's just how I am. It's kinda sad that you have to say goodbye to your facourite albums after so few listens, but anyways.

The most replay I've ever got out of a metal album (and it's still going strong) is probably 20 listens and that's out of All Shall Perish's The Price of Existance. Other worthy mentions - Death's last two albums, Behemoth's Demigod, Phlebotomized's Immense Intense Suspence, Symbyosis's lastest, Sceptic's first two, Glory Blister's first, and Lykathea Aflame's album, amongst others.

Anyways, hope I get some replies :D I don't really mind the genre, but death metal is obviously my favourite. Anyways, cheers.

Dude, I've played Carcass - Necroticism every week since I bought it. I originally bought it on tape in 1991.

Well, if it were movies you were talking about, I'd recommend Monty Python "...And Now For Something Completely Different". I watch that movie every two weeks and it has never gotten old.

But as for albums, Vader's "The Beast" has gotten quite a few listens out of me, as has Mayhem's "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas".

The Chasm, The Chasm, The Chasm

I was gonna get around to the Soulseek thing, but thanks for the upload.

The song has a really cool intro, though sounds fairly same-ish to me throughout the rest of it. The thing that really sounds Therion-like, I think, is the rhythm guitar - the chugging patterns and hooks remind me of some of the faster Therion songs (especially "The Blood of Kingu").

I wouldn't mind listening to more sometime, though I doubt it'll do for me what Therion does.

looking for something on the lines of cult of luna or perhaps agalloch tyvm :)

It's really a personal thing. But my personal fave Metal album that I've come back to time and time again is

Coroner - Grin

What the shit... :erk:

lol @ this if it is a reaction to carcassian's post.

not taking away from necroticism, but the reaction was funny.

@ nissan's actual post; depends on how open minded you are, but you seem quite sheltered in your knowledge of music (no offense intended), so i doubt you will find an album that is instantly appealing and in the long term more rewarding. i tend to find that everything i listen to that i really enjoy, took me some time to get into.

that being said, id start with some thrash bands such as:
Megadeth - Rust In Peace
Coroner - RIP
Slayer - Show No Mercy
Artillery - Terror Squad

etc.

EDIT!

Destroyer 666 - Phoenix Rising + Unchain the Wolves!!!
