Resurrected Power Metal Thread

Yes, there's strength and anger in that, unlike in girlish power metal vocals.

OK.

Because the entire idea of most power metal isn't about 'strength' and putting it across however possibly, cheesy or non cheesy.

I don't think Cans' vocals are particularly that great, but dude was born with a certain kind of voice, how it translates as 'gay' is psychological to the extreme.

Also, I thought there were other things to express in metal than only anger, but maybe not...

You ultra macho-stereotype people who find high vocals, keys, or major key melodies to be 'gay' yet usually like stuff like Korn or Evanescence or Dream Theater are so completely backwards. Most of you can't see how incredibly forced and painful to listen to Iced Earth's music is because it all hangs around that aesthetic of the galloping minor key, half step trade off thing and has the Metallica-uh vocals in it, it must be manly and serious and NOT AT ALL GAY. *crosses arms and frowns* hahahahaha.

Sorry, nothing personal, it's just always the exact same story as above and I can't hold in the laughter anymore. We know, it's 'flower' metal, it's GAAAAAAAY...move on.

First of all, you don't even know all the bands I listen to and I never said that metal was supposed to be about anger. I'll let you know that I used to listen to power metal, and other than nu-metal (which I actually stopped listening to some time ago) I also like(d) some progressive, black, death, Viking, gothic, symphonic, folk, heavy, bla bla bla... metal. I am also a history freak and I like epic fantasy, so yes, I can appreciate good fairy tales or epic stories of power metal bands. I don't like most vocals of power metal, and it's a matter of taste - it is also something that we don't choose. And there's no use arguing over that.

Maybe he was castrated before his voice changed in puberty? XD

Hansi Kursch is one of the best voices in power metal. He has so much, well, power!

Agreed, but the videos aren't popping up.

I'm not sure why that caused you to laugh. I was asking The Creator of Failure a serious question.

Because Jon Arch has such ludicrously high pitched vocals which was what he complained about. It's sorta like when somebody asks for a recommendation and somebody slips in a rec that's the exact opposite of what they want.

I couldn't listen to any of those so no guarantees about sound quality.
