Satanic Metal Bands

A good portion of LaVey's Satanic bible is dedicated to (very silly) spells and invokation rituals. I don't think LaVey's form of Satanism was ever really popular in black metal circles though. There's something about it in Lords of Chaos but it's been too long since I read it to remember what exactly.

Dissection are the only currently active band I can think of at the moment. I used to think that was atleast somewhat in jest but after seeing that recent Death Metal Murders documentary I noticed they were actually deadly serious about it. So when you read ramblings like these on Blabbermouth:

...and when they say things like their new album is "a work of sonic black magic, actively channelling the anti-cosmic current 218.", they aren't joking. Weirdos.

I only remember the last chapter being about ritual.

He's said it in interviews before. In fact he was one of the few Black Metallers who was considered a "real" Satanist (as in The Church of Satan and Anton Levay's interpratations of Satanism). I read somewhere from some Satanic group awhile back that Ihsahn was the only one in a Black Metal band they'd consider for membership.

He probably doesn't drink blood and sacrifice virgins to Lucifer but that's not really what Levay Satanism is about.

^^^^ :Smug:

Are Mayhem really satanists or do they just do their shit for shock value. I never really heard about them doing anything actually satanic just anti-christian like burning churches.

Didnt one of the ex members of emperor go to prison for stabbing a guy to death in a forrest???
That sounds pretty fucken satanic to me

It is was Faust the drummer... and he killed him because it was a homosexual who was hitting on him supposedly... was nothing ritualistic or satanic involved...

Their old drummer Bard Eithan killed the homo like said above. Stabbed him something like 20-30 times and probably never would've gotten caught if Varg Vikerness had not killed Aerseth Oystein.

Apparently Bard was in Dissection for a very short time but he found the band too Satanic for him and said he was unable to live up to it.

BTW, since it's on topic, what were the circumstances to Jon Nodtveidt committing murder? I don't know much about it.

How does that make you satanic?

Id have thought stabbing a dude to death for no apparent real reason is kinda satanic type behaviour

He stabbed him to death because the homo was hitting on him. It still was kind of strange that he killed him because of that but just because he killed him doesn't really make him satanic.

I stopped reading this thread after about 3 posts because I'm so fucking sick of seeing Stormwatch and VadimVon flame each other in every thread. If you want, give me your home addresses, I'll send you money for Greyhound bus tickets to Mexico, and you two can fight to the death south of the border where its legal. Or y'all can save me the trouble and SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!
