Similar bands to Opeth

What bands in other genres of heavy metal would you compare to Opeth in terms of musicianship, talent and sheer brilliance?

Into Eternity & Extol (old) in progressive death metal
Dream Theater in progressive metal
Porcupine Tree in progressive rock
Korpiklaani in folk metal
Scar Symmetry & Mercenary in melodic death metal
Metallica in thrash metal
Graveworm & Anorexia Nervosa in symphonic black metal
Agalloch,Anathema & Katatonia in doom metal
Borknagar in viking/black metal
Between the buried and me in metalcore (although i hesitated to put them in this category!)
Trail of tears & Sirenia in gothic metal
Darkane in technical thrash/death metal

There are SO MANY bands in those genres that i had difficulty in making choices!Other bands that i would mention are The Gathering, Moonspell, Strapping Young Lad, Lux Occulta and many more...I had this topic in my head for a couple of days and i just wanted to share my view on this Now, it is JUST my opinion so don't bash me for it!

there are many older prog bands that sound similar to Opeth. But honestly, no band in the world comes close.

I only like a few of these as much as Opeth, but they're the closest I can think of to quality and career longevity in the whole metal/hard rock scene:

And Django Reinhardt and the Beatles.

Lots encompass different elements, but only a few actually sound similar to Opeth in overall style.

Those that spiring to mind are Agalloch, new Enslaved, My Dying Bride, Katatonia and Anathema.

Memfis from sweden, is quite similar.
They are heavily influenced by Opeth.
