Opeth's sound is atmospheric and bleak. The bass creates an ambience/atmosphere which ruins the sound Opeth are trying to create unless of course they're Funk.

See. FOM really isn't that great after all. A few people like it and cheat to make it look better. Many Opeth fans around the world prefer TBYF over FOM. I am not positive on this but that's just my gut feeling. FOM is just lackluster at best.
