Stories put to music?

How about Frankenstein? There are so many angles that could be taken with that.

Or imagine the awesome nautical themes and such that could accompany Moby Dick.

Or The Count of Monte Cristo? (Now I'm craving a monte cristo sandwich!)

Canterbury Tales would be interesting. Or they could go way back and make their mark with Hamlet or Romeo and Juliet.

Beowulf is just asking for a metal version.

Or how about some CS Lewis and head-off the new movie that's coming out. Could be benificial promotion-wise.

Edit:
* The Three Musketeers
* Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
* Invisible Man

So many possibilities!

my band was gonna do it, but we dont know the story. Now the music was renamed something that I still dont know.

I don't know i think they should do a lord of the rings story even know the awsomely awsome blind guardian does it all the time i would like to see symph x do it.

"Bowwwww down in the so-duk-o! Some Nyquil Daytime blows your colds away. Fourteen gigs of porn all over our hard drives. We love the accoustics in the Church Across the Street!"

Blind Guardian are the only ones allowed to do LotR stuff.

And Leonard Nimoy.

Now THAT's a good idea, Fossil!
Come on people, we can encourage them into doing this! :p

For my part, since I began loving SX, I loved to imagine they'd make a song about any of Lovecraft's work. SX's music would fit juuuuust fine :devil:

I have 2 things to say:

1. An expansion to the Church of the Machine story would kick ass, because a third of the lyrics in that song I don't get.

2. You are all gonna kill me for this, but I've thought about it long and hard. Do you want to know what book I think would make a killer concept album? It's a book that I read last year and it kicked ass. It's a book called "The Brother's War". Yes. It is a Magic the Gathering book, but that didnt stop me from reading it, or loving it.

Lovecraft sure wrote some damn-strange stuff.

BTW, my roommate is looking over my shoulder and suggested Lolita. I'll brb after I kick his...

Thanks guys - maybe we can get them to expand on the CotM storyline! :headbang:

A couple of my friends are authors and I'd love to see some of their work in music. Both of them write post-apocalyptic fiction with pretty involved storylines.

What exactly IS the Church of the Machine storyline? I understand the parts suggesting World Technological Domination and stuff, but other than that, I don't get it.

I think that Symphony X would do a great LotR song, but I would hope that it would only be about the darker parts of the story, like Mordor and such.
