- Far to many people confuse intelligence with wisdom and lack the ability to discern the difference. Some of the smartest people I've ever meet absolutely no clue and do the dumbest shit because they lack the wisdom to think before they act.
- While I agree that some video gaming is great, it's a sad things that today's children would rather sit in front of the TV and play games all day than go outside and kick a ball around, play catch, climb a tree, ride a bike, ... I'm going to sound old when I say this but when I was a kid, from the moment school let out to the time I went to bed, I was outside with my friends getting dirty and having fun, not inside in the dark with my ass in a chair and my eyes fixated on pixels moving around on the TV or computer screen.
- On the same sort of "showing my age" type comment on society, technology has brought us to the brink of having further generations losing the desire or capability to communicate via spoken word with each other. We have gone from walking next door to have a chat with your friend to sending them a text message because it's quicker (as if the walk from my house to my neighbors is such a great distance.) While I ,like all others, utilize technology to communicate with those that I must because of distance and others restrictions, we should all have at least several in person conversations each day if only to retain our social skills and the honest interactions it creates. The anonymity and faceless bravado that electronic communications bring deprive us of the humility and humbleness that face to face communications foster. To put it simply - people are much more friendly in person than they are in an email or a text message and even in a phone conversation.
- Be open minded and accept that others feel differently than you do - it does not mean they are right, but they are entitled to be wrong at the very least, you just don't need to tell them as such.
- Similar to the rant above about technology emboldening us to communicate things we might not otherwise say to another persons face. Always let a typed message sit for a few minutes before hitting the send button. Sometimes our fingers are a lot braver than our mouths would be and I'd rather not have to apologize for what my fingers lacked the capability to filter out.
- I agree with Machinated thoughts on football (soccer) and the United States. I love soccer, but it does seem to be a much more community oriented fan base and as such the size of the US is a detriment to the success of professional soccer in the states. On a side note - I do think college soccer is extremely enjoyable and regularly attend my local universities games (Go UCONN!!)
- While Sean Connery was a great James Bond, I have to be honest and say that Daniel Craig is my choice for Bond actors - the last few Bond flicks have made him so bad assed it's great. No more campy crap - just James Bond taking care of business and taking out the bad guys. The only reason this came to mind is I'm watching "Quantum of Solace" as I type this.
OK - that's it for now, I'm sure I can think of other things, but that's for another time.
