The "controversial opinions" thread!

-Their needs to be a cut off period for the dole, no more of this "on the welfare all me life" bullshit with the exception of people with a disabilty, society should look after the vulnerable not the lazy

- Getting signed to a label and putting out a record used to require talent and originality at least to a moderate degree. Sadly this is no longer the case. While there is good music being made by extremely unknown bands, there is way to much regurgitated crap being released these days. I'm amazed at what passes for musicianship and talent in todays music scene. While everybody is entitled to their opinion I think on this we can all agree.

-Having watched both versions more than my fair share of times, and barring the first season where it was just copying exactly what went on in the british version, the US version of The Office is far better than the UK version. The characters are more developed/likeable/better, the plots have better and more developed arcs, and the humor is wittier and pithier (something that should never happen when comparing US to UK humor).

-The fact that sports announcers/commentators actually have jobs is completely deplorable and speaks volumes to me about the intelligence possessed by most of the sports-loving world.

-Sports are, by and large, boring. I can watch soccer and be entertained quite a bit, but people who get all up in arms about American football, baseball, and basketball are quite annoying, overly competitive, and usually can't play the sport they love worth dick. People who speak like they are part of a team but clearly aren't are equally bad (eg The Lakers played so well in game 7, I knew we'd win! - there is no collective 'we' when referring to the speaker and the Lakers, besides that 'we' are retarded).

-Musicians/producers/artists who complain about the state of the pop industry and are pissed off that no talent/originality/imagination exists in todays bands are in denial, do not understand basic market trends and economic principles, or live in a magical fairytale la-la-land where it's the "music art collective" that exists, not the "music industry."

-I honestly believe that for 99% of people who get tattoos, it's an underlying cry for attention and want to be noticed. People get tattoos for attention, and rarely any other reason.

Here's one that will get me flamed for sure:

-I hate The Beatles. I really do. I find their music boring and uninteresting. I appreciate what they did for music and I know how innovative they were - that doesn't mean I have to like them or listen to them. The fact that people who inspire me happened to be inspired by the Beatles doesn't make them any better, either. Most of their success and the reason they will forever be remembered as the biggest band to ever exist is because 1. they were highly original - I'll give them that - they basically invented pop music. 2. They had virtually no competition. Their biggest competition at one point was Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys, way the fuck over in Southern California. These days, you compete with bands in the same rehearsal space - if your competition was across an entire continent and the atlantic ocean, 'making it' would be far easier.

Fuck it, throw in another one.

-There is absolutely no such thing as true altruism. Everything that anyone has ever done is because it benefits them in some way. Whether it be by making them feel better having donated to charity or helped the poor or something along those lines, or more obviously benefitted them monetarily or with fame/glory, people do things because they get something out of it. If helping the poor or saving derelict animals didn't make people feel good about themselves, nobody would feed the poor or house stray animals.

The first to denounce this will be evangelical/hardcore Christians, who are by far the most obvious example of how accurate a statement that really is.

- Jeff's opinion of the Beatles is just as valid as mine, just one of our opinions is correct and I'll let you guess which one it is (see my other post earlier on to gain insight into this one.) :D:Smokedev:

Just F#$^ing with you Jeff :)

I know the rule of no replying, but +100000000000.
I have huge respect for The Beatles and what they have given us, but they have done 3-4 songs i can stand, tops.. the rest makes me cringe so bad that i have to leave the room if its on.

And as a former LaVeyan(I got a brain and realized it was retarded, so dont flame plx.), i have to agree.
Everything we do is for our selves.. no matter what that is, even if it is giving your life to save someone else.

-Commonly said things that are retarded and illogical: When people make statements about guys 'compensating' for something. The most common one is something like "He drives a big truck, he probably has a small dick." This is most probably NOT true. He probably has a regular ass guy dick. That's why they call it 'average.'

Sometimes I wish I could smack the shit outta girls...and not in a sexy kinda way like an "I really want to feed you to wolves you fucking cunt harlot" kinda way.

Chi/Ki is absolute bullshit. I'm sorry. It's called mechanics fucknuts, not some magic "air" flowing out of you.

Affliction shirts = gayer than AIDS.

Will Smith and his entire family are ruining the world.

Stretching is cool. Yoga is not.

ENOUGH OF THE FIBER PROPAGANDA.

You can eat carbs at any time of the day. Anyone that says otherwise is retarded.

Mad Max might be the worst movie series ever.

Pop music is good music! I don't give a fuck if there isn't unnecessary mixolydian sorcery. Good songs are good songs.
I don't care if they are all the same either. That formula is used because it sounds fucking AWESOME.

NOBODY really knows shit about politics, religion, or how to drive.

Will Smith and his entire family are ruining the world.

He lives 20-30 minutes from me and I've met his older son on numerous occasions, as he used to date my next-door neighbor. Super cool kid, very humble and polite, definitely brought up well!

*Edit* the son I know is from his previous marriage, before Jada Pinkett-Smith and he got married. I don't trust that bitch - hyphenated name is always a dead giveaway.
