- Guns don't kill people... don't believe it? try to get one to; set a loaded gun on a table and command it to kill. Good luck with that one. maybe try insulting it?
- Lawful gun owners are not impulsive, they are very responsible as a whole, and 98% of them never have to use their weapons at all. The 2% who do are not being reactionary, nor are they looking for "instant justice"... they are directly protecting the lives of themselves, family members, and innocent bystanders/victims. of those 2% that have used their weapons in self-defense, less than a quarter of them have had to fire them. this is the overwhelming statistics in regards to legal concealed-weapon license holders in the US. anyone who thinks differently is uninformed at best, and stupid reactionary scare-mongers at worst.
- Criminals do not obey gun laws, so laws restricting the ability to own them only effects law-abiding citizens... thus diminishing their ability to defend themselves in their own homes, vehicles, places of employment, or minding their own business on the street... where police have no responsibility or ability to prevent them from being grievously injured, killed, and/or otherwise violated by criminals to whom gun laws have no meaning. no, police are only obligated to try to stop crimes they are alerted about in advance, witness in progress, or are already investigating.
- the image of the gun-toting stupid redneck cowboy american is GROSSLY over-exaggerated... especially by the European and american liberal press.
- it's far better to have a gun and not need it, than to need it and not have it... unless it's consolation enough for you that the police will diligently investigate your murder and/or that of your kids/wife/parents/friends?
- the nanny-state is real in many countries, but it's benevolence is a myth; big brother can't protect you from everything, and violent crime is a world-wide phenomenon.... not an American invention.
- in recent years, as lawful gun ownership and Concealed Carry permits have increased in the US, the States that have seen the most growth in those areas have also seen the most reduction in violent crime against private citizens.
