The disappointing purchases thread

Voxengo Elephant (maximizer VST): It´s a great plugin, but I can´t deny anymore that TLs Maximizer sounds better and it is a freeware. Worst thing is that I already had it when I bought Elephant.

Dammit Distortion (ampsim VST): Doesn´t have stereo version and doesn´t work on Reaper. At least it was kinda cheap.

Killer Home Recording (books): Too repetitive and only really useful to total begginers. The shootouts ("Interrogator Sessions") are great, though.

Toys Breaking (sample collection): Very cheap but I don´t think I would buy it again if I had the chance to go back in time. Only used once.

EMG 81 (guitar pickup): Bought together with the 85. It´s a great pickup, it´s on the neck of my guitar, but as I only use the 85 on the bridge I can´t deny that it was wasted money.

I bought 12 sets of Elixir Polywebs instead of Nanowebs a while back by mistake.
I could swear when I order it off ebay, I bought the Nanos.
They aren't terrible strings, but obviously was quite disappointed when I ripped open the delivery box to find 12 sets of the wrong strings :erk:
Next time, will triple check (not just double check) that I'm buying the right ones.

Profire 2626 - constantly gave me BSODs on Windows XP. At least it works as a 8-channel preamp with ADAT
Alesis io26 - had tons of annoying issues, and I had to return two just to get one that worked (not particularly well, mind you), but I guess it got the job done for awhile.
Any firewire interface - they all have more stability/connection issues than I (naively, apparently) thought they would. My Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56 has been the most stable so far.
SSD 3.0 - not disappointing because of the sound. Disappointed simply because I only used it a few times in a whole year before Trigger came out

o_0 y'all need a new 'puter, son. firewire's the way to go for the majority of us, and the profire is definitely one of the more reliable ones. think you had a crappy firewire card

Toneport UX8...it was more an impulse buy, completely forgetting I have the 002, and really this thing acts more as a decorative item than a piece of gear. will trade!

When i got my UX2 (toneport "edition"). While i was installing it i came to realise i had to pay extra for the plugin version of podfarm.................................................... and the owners of the same (but newly colored) product, get that for free. (there's only 1 fucking legal distributor of line 6 in my city, he only had the toneport version)

FUCK YOU LINE6 :D i'm never paying for that.

what kind of reefer must one smoke to forget he owns a 002 and then impulse buys an 8 channel USB interface made by line6?! if it had ADAT out and could atleast be a podfarm dongle that doubles as a digimax, that'd be another story, but the i/o on those things is absolute dook.

all the toneports need MIDI i/o. such a fackin deal-breaker, i would've recommended one to my dad (cause he's BLOWN AWAY by the concept of pod farm) ...but he needs midi i/o. are you listening, line6 ?!
