The disappointing purchases thread

what kind of reefer must one smoke to forget he owns a 002 and then impulse buys an 8 channel USB interface made by line6?! if it had ADAT out and could atleast be a podfarm dongle that doubles as a digimax, that'd be another story, but the i/o on those things is absolute dook.

all the toneports need MIDI i/o. such a fackin deal-breaker, i would've recommended one to my dad (cause he's BLOWN AWAY by the concept of pod farm) ...but he needs midi i/o. are you listening, line6 ?!

Long story short....it was a long night, was bullshittin w someone at a party about it, hopped on my phone and bought it, totally forgot about the purchase till it got to my door.

o_0 y'all need a new 'puter, son. firewire's the way to go for the majority of us, and the profire is definitely one of the more reliable ones. think you had a crappy firewire card

Nah. TI chipset, PCI card. This was a well-known issue on the M-Audio forum that M-Audio essentially refused to acknowledge when they couldn't fix it. Huge thread over there. I simply gave up and started using my Focusrite full-time.
There's a few people on this very forum that have random BSODS with the Profire.

Also, I'm not on that computer anymore regardless.

Ha ha, you remind me of a buddy of mine who spent several hundred euros being shitfaced on eBay on several occasions, also forgetting about the purchases the next day.

He once called me up and told me that suddenly 5 packs (= 60 bags) of US Army MRE's had arrived at his door and he had no idea where they came from.

haha i could imagine the look on his face when that package arrived

SansAmp Bass Driver DI (just not crunchy enough for any purpose, and the DI is nothing my Fireface input cannot do)
CryBaby GCB95 (mostly because of the inverted negative/positive poles, so it doesn't accept the normal PSUs)
CoolCat Chorus (due to the original version's even less standard power supply, 12 volts :erk: but with batteries, it does sound very good!)
Sennheiser HD25-II (they sound very good, but they are unbearably uncomfortable for any long use. They press my earlobes like a clothespin :erk:)

Voxengo Elephant (maximizer VST): It´s a great plugin, but I can´t deny anymore that TLs Maximizer sounds better and it is a freeware. Worst thing is that I already had it when I bought Elephant.

Dammit Distortion (ampsim VST): Doesn´t have stereo version and doesn´t work on Reaper. At least it was kinda cheap.

Killer Home Recording (books): Too repetitive and only really useful to total begginers. The shootouts ("Interrogator Sessions") are great, though.

Toys Breaking (sample collection): Very cheap but I don´t think I would buy it again if I had the chance to go back in time. Only used once.

EMG 81 (guitar pickup): Bought together with the 85. It´s a great pickup, it´s on the neck of my guitar, but as I only use the 85 on the bridge I can´t deny that it was wasted money.

Just tried TLs.
Very good for a free plug in!

Actually it is very good, period.
It´s better than all the paid ones that I´ve tested (Elephant, L2, L3, Ozone, Event Horizon VST). It´s a shame that the dude who did it don´t make plugins anymore and the GUI is so fucking ugly.

I'll buy it off of you for $50 bucks.

Nah, I´m keeping it. My guitar would look bad without a neck pickup, or the passive stock pickup there.
