the greatest metal solo of all time?

Metallica- Master Of Puppets
Slayer- Angel Of Death
Iron Maiden- Run To The Hills
Megadeth- Hanger 18
Ozzy Osbourne- Over The Mountain
Alice In Chains- Man In The Box
Pantera- Mouth For War

My favourite:
Meshuggah-Sublevels
Black Sabbath-Snowblind
Death-Spirit Crusher
Quo Vadis-Silence Calls The Storm
It's just a coincidence the songs all start with the letter "s."

Bathory- Shores in Flames (one of the most dramatic solos ever)
Burzum- Key to the Gate (this is more like a lead, but it is fucking incredible)
Immolation- Rival the Imminent
Creepmime- Chinese Whispers

The Shores In Flames solo really hits the heart
and that Burzum (lead solo whatever) is fucking great, when i first heard it i had to learn to play it :headbang:

Atheist - Enthralled In Essence
Cryptopsy - the short ass one in faceless unknown rules
Intestine Baalism - A place Their Gods Left Behind
I'm going to stop there's too many

Bands with honourable mentions for always having good solos are the previous 3, Death and Pestilence.
And i'll also like to say Suffocation - Abomination Reborn solo kicks major ass, reminds me of Andy LaRocque.:kickass:

Hmmm.....

Yngwie Malmsteen- Far Beyond the Sun (well the whole song is a solo, but still....)

Trivium- Entrance of the Conflagration

Dragonforce-Through the Fire and Flames

Opeth-Grand Conjuration

Iron Maiden- The Number of the Beast (dunno why, but...........)

Megadeth-Hangar 18

I prefere the solos on Necroticism over heartwork. I find the solos and riffs on necroticism to be less predictable musically and song structure wise where on heartwork just about all the riffs and solos are all placed in the same spots in a very organised pop structure way.
