The "live from MDF" thread

There was some black guy that may or may not have been homeless hopping up and down near the top of the gate during Possessed (I have a small video clip of it), but I can't think of anything else. The level of harassment/insanity on the streets was miraculously low given how much I was walking around during the four days.

Well, I made it b(l)ack home alive from Baltimore. The fest was epic. My favorite performances were Gorguts and The Chasm, kind of because they were my favorite bands of the fest anyway, but their sets were amazing in their own right. Sinister sounded really good. I wasn't sure what to expect from their performance, but they were amazingly tight. N2002 were good. They played an awesome cover of "Pleasure to Kill." Melechesh were good. Incantation were awesome. I wanted to see Deceased but I missed their set for some reason.

I enjoyed exploring the local culture of Baltimore. That place has everything I could ever want: black people yelling at each other, black people yelling at me, black people yelling at nothing at all, black people harassing me in McDonalds, crust punks asking black people for money, black people asking crust punks for money, and various other permutations of those themes.

I wasn't able to get drunk enough and was therefore rather subdued the entire weekend. I was basically drinking beer all day everyday at the fest but I was sweating my ass off so much that I must've sweat out all the alcohol because I could barely catch a buzz. I should've brought more whiskey.

Everybody was supercool. I never knew how metal ordering milk could be until this weekend; thanks, Grant.

Yeah, it's too bad. Especially sucked that we couldn't get restocked on beer Sunday night. And the hotel room was fucking hot as hell, which sucked.

How to Order Milk:
Don't Be a Fucking Faggot

A late happy birthday to you as well Chris, since I was too drunk/tired to remember on Sunday. I hope it was a good one for you. :kickass:

* Wolfbrigade (never heard D-beat before, and these guys blew my fucking mind)

D-beat can be great live. Good that you ran into a good first experience with it, some albums may just bore the fuck out of you.

Awesome:
* Fang

Who? Srsly.

* Asphyx
* Incantation

Yeah, that was clear.

Decent/Good:
* Ingrowing

Ask Andy please.

Meh:
* Autopsy (wtf, bass was totally muddled and drowning out everything)

:-(

* Rompeprop (except for the polka at the beginning, which ruled :p)

Rompeprop is weird, you just have to be fucking wasted or something, or weird or something. Their music is really bad just to be bad imo.

* Nirvana 2002

What was wrong with them?

This photo pretty much sums up the entire weekend. Detailed post (including an unnecessary text version of my haul) to come when I can be fucked to make it.

Is that V5 wearing a Devourment shirt?

Don't havwe much time to write, but that whole weekend was so fucking awesome. All you guys were a total pleasure to hang out with. At all times during the 'fest I hung out with so many of you at different times, so it felt like we were some big happy group of friends who hang out much more often than just yearly. Can't wait to see you all next year and hopefully sooner.

As for the bands, I got front row center for Nazxul, Watain, Possessed, Melechesh, Asphyx and Pentagram (from the latter of which I got the setlist, much to Jean-Pierre's approval). And I really enjoyed watching Incantation, Sinister et al.

I'm happy with my merch exploits. I didn't go all out like guy, but I got three shirts and a Profanatica CD. Spent the rest on beer.

Nick was once again an awesome travel companion and I wish him well as he is en route to San Francisco for 5 weeks.

Met plenty of other UMers who didn't do the Tremont with us, like Nikki, swizzlenuts (who loves calling me a faggot), and Mort, who couldn't help grabbing my behind during Asphyx. Creep.

Yeah Chase, that's me :lol: It was funny as hell being shoved between Guy and Schmidt, both like 4-5 inches taller than me, both wearing patch jackets and looking metal as fvk, and me being the only one with an over 21 bracelet :p

Hahahahaha. At first i said to myself, what the hell is a 12 year old kid doing at MDF. Then, with a better look, i found out it was V5, but i asked to make sure it was him.

Is it just me or does Master Yoda look a bit like Fat-Swano?

Andy, how tall are you ? :D I'm only asking because I don't want to be both the sole nigg and midget in a prospective MDF gaysexroom.

Am I the only one that feels super depressed and sad that MDF is over?

But yeah, a detailed review of the fest and hilarious videos of Grant are soon to come guys.
