The New album is called Watershed : Out June 2nd

For the uninitiated who are wondering, "Robin who?"

From 1974. You can almost smell the pot...

Hmm that riff he starts playing at 3:06 sounds pretty similar to the riff Metallica plays on the ghost track on Garage Inc. Disc 1. (The last track on that CD is the cover of The More I See by Discharge). I wonder if Metallica ever listened to this stuff.

Pretty cool video by the way.

According to an article in the french version of Rock Hard magazine , the song's lengths are as follow :

1. 3,07
2. 8,51
3. 8,48
4. 7,42
5. 8,01
6. 11,26
7. 6,59

I suspect that these lengths match the tracklisting we have but I am not sure, the article doesn't have the name of the songs in it.

This makes an album under the 55 minutes mark, without the bonus track and the covers.

I don't want to sound like a whining fanboy, but will that mean Watershed will be Opeth's shortest album? Why not put 'Derelict Herds' on it? Interesting..

I remember reading an interview with Mikael saying that each track is around ten minutes long and the other day wikipedia had the length of each track and each track was no longer than 7 minutes.. so that information could be wrong I guess :Smug:

You have albums that are 36 or 39 (like Behemoth's The Apostasy) minutes long. I don't think 55 minutes is short. That's about 2 minutes longer than My Arms, Your Hearse. Yeah I do realize Opeth usually release albums that are a bit over an hour long, but I don't think 55 minutes is "fucking short".

Um, i dont know when 55 minutes started being short. Go put in your Beatles albums and tell me 55 minutes is short. I'm sure it will be jam packed with awesomeness, alas it's not over an hour...

Even though it's a tad short, don't forget Mikael said the flow of the album is similar to MAYH (which is ~52 1/2 min) and other things he said suggests there are a lot of changes. A bunch of riffs on previous albums were repeated, particularly BWP and the following albums, making them 2X longer than they could have been.

lately iv been doing alot of thinking when coming to cd lenths. Personally cds over an hour long, specially cds reaching the 75 min mark, are basicly TO LONG.

though it does depend on the band, and style of their music. Radiohead albums are PERFECT around 45 min long. It could be with my interest in 70s music that shorter albums work out for the best. In the 70s as you know you single records couldnt go over 45 min. With a shorter time, and amount of tracks it makes it easyer to focus for the entire duration of the record.

Regardless what the lenth of the new album from opeth is (i believe that french artical is right on the dot though!) it will be wonderful!

Damn!! The worst point on Ghost reveries was that the better song was too short "isolation years", and "coil" seems like a very interesting song, I won`t like another good song in 3 minutes.

I think its interesting that theres 3 songs on here in middle-long 7-8 min length, really exited about that. The first song seem really short for an Opeth song, though.
