The New album is called Watershed : Out June 2nd

Gotta love when people are fans of a progressive metal band and they just list older albums they want a new album to sound like. I'd rather they just progress further and show me something they haven't done, but maybe i'm just weird.

damn right

Okay, the french article was right all along.

I Win.

55 Minutes.

Metal Archives are n00bs.

Can't wait to listen to the fucking thing.

But I truly don't get why the release date is so far, the album is obviously done, mixed and mastered.

It could easily be out in April, even March I am sure but because Raodrunner sees Opeth as a strategic band, they chose the release date.

The album won't even be out when they start touring with Dream Theater.

113 days left.

Fuck.

Progressive doesn't always = mindless technicality and wankery though. Spring or Cressida is often considered progressive but is far from mindless technicality.

How weird. I'm reading this thread for the first time...and a Cressida album is playing in the background.

And last night, I listened to Cocteau Twins' "Victorialand".

WTF? :zombie:

Hessian can be looked at from 2 different meanings. hessian stood for people who lived in hesse, which is a state in germany. however, hessian is also a mathematical term

Hessian is also a material. Rough, brown sack cloth. Nothing to do with Opeth, just thought I'd chirp that there is a 3rd!

haha back-tracking hard, your still a retard I see
Always be sure, when you're calling someone a retard on the net, that you know the difference between "your" and "you're".

Damn!! The worst point on Ghost reveries was that the better song was too short "isolation years"

Speak for yourself, Paleface. I thought that was a great length for that one.:p

I think I could live with "Coil" being 3 minutes. No better judge for all that than the people writing and performing it.

Hope the new album is very similar to Orchid or Morningrise. IMO opeth's albums up to Still Life were amazing.

and I hope the new album is more like still life/bwp/deliverance, but in a new way.

seriously? what is with you guys wanting more of the same. if you want the new album to sound like orchid then why not just listen to orchid? i hope this album is nothing like any other opeth album and from the way it is being carefully described, i may get my wish.

I remember listening to GR for the first time and being on the edge of my seat waiting to see which direction the music took next. I can't wait to experience that again. Mike's songwriting just keeps getting better.

agreed. i think some people are going to want alot of METAL on this album and be dissapointed with a completley new direction. i can happily say that this is my most anticipated opeth album release EVER!!!

Thats your opinion though init? Mine says otherwise. I'm not a massive die hard opeth fan if you really want to know, i was back in the days when orchid and morningrise came out, when probably 80% of the members of this forum were playing in playgrounds and watching Teletubbies on the telly. I was a big fan up to Still life (the first three albums) and it certainly doesn't mean the albums after that were not good or something, I'm sure they are all great but theyre just not my cup of tea. Hope the new album has some teast of those old opeth riffs. And this is my opinin kids.

we are all entitled to our own opinion but all im saying is that this album will probably be the farthest thing away from orchid that they've ever done.

and what made you decide to join the forum after years and years of dissapointed opeth releases, still life came out in 99 and you joined in 2006? not trying to sound like a prick, just wondering actually. off topic question, i know.

That is indeed strange...
