I still love all the absurdly gory black-comedy types of horror films (unintentional or otherwise) but I've definitely been more interested in checking out more atmospherically creepy horror films as of late, like the ones I included on my list, and basically a lot of "what you don't see" kind of shit. Anyone have any recommendations?

The Wicker Man, My Bloody Valentine, The Evil Dead, Night of the Living Dead and the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre are probably the most well known horror movies that i still haven't seen.

i still haven't seen nightmare on elm street, friday the 13th, hellraiser, evil dead II or either version of invasion of the body snatchers.

any. i have seen bits and pieces of them over the years, and i definitely saw one of the friday the 13th movies while drunk with friends, but i don't remember much. i remember someone putting hellraiser on at a party too but my attention wasn't on it.
my parents always talk about how much they shat themselves when they first saw nightmare on elm street together so it's kinda weird i haven't watched it.

70's Body Snatchers rules massively, especially if you're into that whole "who can I trust?" paranoia thing Carpenter basically mastered with The Thing.

yeah you definitely need to at least check out the first ones. Just make sure you watch the uncut version of Friday the 13th. The next two are pretty cool too(3rd ones my favorite). But i'm a huge fan of the series so you have to take that with a grain of salt

IMO Carpenter's Halloween theme is probably the greatest and most iconic horror theme ever. Gives the film such a terrifying and tense atmosphere. (Didn't bother to mention Suspiria and Rosemary's Baby lullaby theme because NCFOW already did, but those are fucking great too.)
