this bridge thingy separates the two sides of the park. as i was walking under it i found a plastic bag full of bread loaves, but i didn't know if it was there for the ducks or if it was a homeless person's bag of food so i left it alone. and i didn't get raped.

and...that's all.

All right, so here is a handful shots from our August trip to the Cathare Land - South-Western France, close to the Pyrenean moutains - including Meself, Dev, Chaostar (turns up sporadically here with some of the dumbest posts ever) and his wife.

The ancient stronghold of Queribus - you don't see it quite well, but the dungeon is perched atop a 800m high rock, when you look at it from the valley down below it makes you feel dizzy. Plus the wind was blowing so fekkin fierce up there that day around. Near Death Experience...

The beautiful medieval city of Carcassonne - which presumably inspired Lovecraft when he thought up the dream-citadel of Carcosa. A must-see in the area

From inside Carcassonne - one of the countless towers

And you wouldn't think Dev would have survived the day without a pose - the guy on his left is Joss, yet another Opeth-boy...

The Orbieu Canyon - a cute spot for chilling out, of course you have to picture the huge cliffs rising from each side of the water

A good place for promo pics too - 5 stars for the first to figure which band Dev and I are craving to mimic...

Thou shalt not worship idols with a mustache! [Ellestin 8:666]

Next up were the four Castles of Lastours - very nice wandering place amongst typical southern vegetation and ancient stone

Lots of opportunities for cool pics...

... and cool dudes - here Dev

Not to skip the essential...

As weird as it may seem I'm NOT engaged in a IIIrd Reich parody, but playing pétanque - a traditional French game played with iron balls... I used to win but Dev proved a tough opponent.

Yet another Castle: Puilaurens - massive and forbidding, surrounded by thick wooden hills as far as the eye can peer. Very interesting as well for the numerous well-preserved remains of war engineering.

Chaostar. Posing.

And last but not least: Dev, I and Chaostar's wife above the ruins of Peyrepertuse - huge fortress atop a vertical ridge. This is actually the most gorgeous and furthest-reaching sightseeing spot you can get in the entire area. Worth the whole trip.

My thoughts:

DUUDE I went to those places a couple of years ago... that part of France is SO painfully awesome! We rented a house in a small town of around 300 people for a week, had a great time with much wine and cheese had by all!

Also, Chaostar's wife is hot :loco:
