99% of the time, yes, absolutely. Depends on the level of grind present in the deathgrind, but yeah, almost certainly.

There's almost too much to choose from. Atmosludge/post-metal, pornogrind, folk metal, viking metal, symphoblack, depressoblack, and atmoblack are all basically universally garbage.

I understand the other ones, but folk/viking metal?? I have trouble imagining someone who would consider Bathory, Eluveite, or Wolfchant garbage...that said some folk metal is cringy, especially the newer stuff.

I hate all that garbage too, I just know literally zero people who listen to it, so I forgot the entire genre existed. I have no reason to actively hate it, since I never come into contact with it.

I can enjoy a few Viking metal-era Bathory songs in small doses, but most of it is just really repetitive and overlong Manowar worship. It's trad metal that's just bad. I've never heard a good Eluveite song afaik but I don't think I've even heard of Wolfchant.

What? Eluveite is the definition of garbage.

HamburgerBoy almost certainly wouldn’t like them, but early Enslaved gets lumped in with “Viking metal” and Vikingligr Veldi and Hordanes Land both rule. Frost isn’t bad either. A much better example of the genre not sucking than fucking Eluveite.

There's definitely a lot of trash in the often "frilly" Viking Metal/Pagan Black/Atmoblack/Folk side of things, BUT It's worth the hassle to find amazing acts like Falkenbach, Moonsorrow, Windir, WITTR, Nokturnal Mortum, Wodensthrone, Fyrnask, Drudkh, The Ruins of Beverast, Aquilus, Utstøtt, Ildra, Spectral Lore, Myrkgrav, Galar, Raventale, etc.
