And Open G, is the best tuning. The guitar does the work for you with it. Just stick your hands anywhere. Everything will sound awesome no matter what you're doing.

Eh. I love Drop D. I usually play in Standard Drop D or EB. Drop C is too low for me, not enough string tension even with an 11 gauge, sounds crappy and muddy on my amp.

I dont understand how you guys can generalize against a tuning though. Anyone can make any tuning great.

That's unfortunate to hear. For all the hell I went through in school, it was some of the most enjoyable, rewarding, and downright surreal times of my life. And I'm not referring to (well, partially) the social aspect. I really got into the academic side. I can only hope it gets better for you, though I don't know how much longer you have left.

On my 6-string i play drop C tuning just adjust the guitar good and the way you want it

but i play 7-string most of the time and im not going too lower my tuning on that...like Nevermore did :s

I can't stand any drop tuning. It just feels alien. I've got guitars tuned to E, D, C, and B standard. It's nice to just pick up a different guitar and quickly be able to find the tone I'm looking for.

I only have this year left. At this point I'm pretty burnt out with academics, and I'm fully unsatisfied with where I live. I do enjoy the intelligent discourse in my upper level English classes, and even lower Sociology class, but I'm ready to be done with MA forever.
