I hate it when somebody tries to get into relationships with you, - so they email you, IM you, sms you, call you once a minute and when they finally confess about their feelings and you mildly turn them down and explain that you just wanna be friends - they stop talking to you AT ALL. Like they've never existed in your life. Like - I wanna be your lover or fuck off. Where's the fucking logic? People suck.

Probably because the whole point of the friendship he started with you was to work toward that goal, and now the goal no longer exists.

Well yes, and isn't that hypocritical? I mean - it just means that they don't give a damn about you as a person, friend etc, but only need something from you. It's weakness and hypocrisy. And it's so easy to check the person by just turning them down and you'll see that they'll just disapear, like they couldn't care less about your other features beside relationships. This is so stupid...

Perhaps he saw more potential in you as a person than what friendship could fulfill. He means no insult if, with his hopes dashed, he needs time to redirect his needs.

If I'm any example, I couldn't become friends again with my ex-girlfriend (though we had only dated a month) until I began setting my sights on my now current girlfriend, with whom I had only been friends for a couple months.

On that note, my girlfriend of eight months, yesterday actually asked me my opinion on the subject of children. As awkward as it was a discussion, it made me feel very confident that I'm with this girl for a long time to come.

Neurotica, you are probably at a disadvantage in situations involving male friends because you are very good looking girl and there is bound to be some sort of attraction beyond just being friends with a lot of guys.

How about when you and a longtime friend confess to having feelings for each other and indulge in this for a while, but as soon as she realizes you're serious she does a 180 and claims she never was (despite having made comments about marriage and other things people "fleetingly" discuss ). So things get ugly and weird and before long even the friendship is ruined.

I'm not bitter at all...

(There's actually a lot more to this story, but fuck it.)

Yeah, I see the logic now, but still - it's just that I put more of ideology into my feelings to a person so even when I'm being declined as a lover - I still care how that person is and try to be their buddy (if he didn't turn into an asshole according to me), even if it's painful sometimes. Because before I realize that I want to date the guy - I need to feel what kind of friend he is. Probably it has something to do with pride too... And as you Zeph said that you can't talk to your ex for some reason - I can talk to my ex-bfs, we are not friends but neither enemies. It sure depends on how you broke up though.

I've never had that kind of final, and this story happened only once in my life. But it does sound awkward, it's terrible when friendship ruins because of such things.

To be honest, a lot of it was my fault, anyway. She had issues with trust, and she'd go back and forth between "I'm never going to want anything but friendship" and "Well actually, I really do like you and could see myself being with you..." So I thought it was just something I needed to work at, gain her trust, etc. Again and again she'd seem to acquiesce, but finally she just turned cold and I was kinda like, well, fuck.

I actually still wanted to be friends, but things were just too weird.

I can only be friends with a female who am not pysically/sexually attracted to and even then neither of us talk much or hang out(probably because we don't want to touch each other,). If am in lust with a chick and she's not in lust with me it drives me nuts being around her. I don't get why and feel like am being teased/lead on playing a game that sucks.

I'm just not into talking to/spending time hanging out with a chick who is doing someone else and does not want to have sex with me. It's just weird, she can go hang out with her boyfriend and do him.

I have friends I can call and hang out with. I really don't need that bullshit. I don't see why someone would keep caring.
