this forum is depressing

I'm with Dora on this one too. Sometimes it seems some here are afraid to talk seriously even if just for a moment. Instead they're tryin to look more intellectual by postin some witty and funny replies...

I'm not all for tight-ass -conversations either but enough is enough.

Now could someone post a picture of a donkey or something after this one?

shoorely if you wanted to look all intellectual you'd post dead serious stuff filled with intellectual ennui??

Nah. There's always the horrible possibility of revealing something about yourself when talking seriously. That or someone not agreeing with you. It's easier to just post some sarcastic remarks and place yourself above all.

You mustn't let people on the Internet know who you are, it's full of murderers and burglars and that

i blame the us movies for that. its been so over done there the 'talking about myself in the cheesy way' that everyone feels guilty by doing that now.

i doubt that. I think very few people here reveal anything about themselves that they dont want to, that goes especially for the people who use this palce as a confessional, rantbox or whatever, its as much as part of the self image that they want the world to buy as sarcasm is

of course if your defintion of "serious" is limited to engaging in some kinda oprah winfrey group therapy session while keeping a straight face then youre very right:erk::erk:

group hug

You guys are really annoying, reacting to criticism with even more sarcasm, I'm sick of it. :ill:

I think everyone should choose when they want to talk about themselves seriously and "give away" something confidential. You can sense when people are just joking, and when they're not (though I'm starting to doubt this, haha). If I get interested in someone, I mean at a more than superficial level, I can always find a way to approach him/her in a serious manner. Or not :D

mehdi said what i wanted bang on. self obsessed slef induglent americans are to blame. Soon the chinese will take over and then we'll learn

Excuse me, is this the Anonym Anathemaforumists club? I've been trying hard to stay clean for months now, but it's really, really hard. :erk:

if you post here, you ask for undirected criticism. if you dont want that, pm someone, or dont even bother. i must confess i'm quite sensitive about criticism, but sometimes ppl criticise me on parts i didnt expect them to.

subconciously, i want to be criticised i guess.

snd sometimes Dhatura, sarcasm can be bonding - humor, depending how you sense it.
tho (written) words can never represent energy/sense.

So everything is false, an image we're presenting to the world with no connection to our real self, which is basically just a need to breed and stay alive, therefore we should just deliver cheap sarcastic shots to everyone who is so ignorant as to believe there is more to it. Is that your point?

I think Hemmingway once said something about sarcasm being the shield of the weak mind, seems appropriate in so many ways to this.

btw my mate saw adam clayton going to an AA meeting in a church (he actually did) , he needed a group hug i think. Thats serious for adam. Course everyone pretended they didnt notice him cos thats what ireland is like usually

desperate but not serious to quote adam ant :b
