Tool 10,000 Days

thanks for all the opinions....I like the first song that was released and was hoping the whole CD would deliver the goods....I see some mixed opinions, but $15 for music is better than spending the money on junk food!

Downloaded the first 5 songs or so when it leaked. Too much like Lateralus part 2 for me (which I disliked) but I'll still buy it sometime this week.

Someone confirm to me that Maynard says "god damn, shit the bed" in there somewhere.

I bought mine for $9, on sale all week at best buy, along with their previous stuff for $9, so picked up a replacement aenima.

Anyway the album was totally a grower, I was under the impression of all the previous shit rehashed for the album on the first listen or two, but it's far more than that. and honestly going back to listen to lateralus after the new one made that seem to be the real stinker of the catalog, it's a very cold album in comparison.

and I totally am loving the 3d images in the packaging hahahah the coolest shit.

Tool blows. End of story.

Yea man! They can't write songs! They can't structure songs in abstract ways....and, and....and....and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and Danny Carey is a shitty drummer!!11oneoneone

I haven't heard the album yet but look forward to it. I think Tool is underrated by dipshits. They're actually a great band with awesome song writing techniques. Though, the guitars might not be technical enough for peoples' liking, the song structures are technical enough for people who are muscially inclined. Plus, Danny Carey fucking kicks ass.

i understand your point about song structures and such, but danny isn't a great drummer. he uses a lot of similar beats alot and doesn't do anything that unique or special. yeah back on undertow era he did a lot of kick ass tom fills and stuff, but its not THAT hard, just well placed. but you see that was then, he's shown NO progression musically or anything. to me, that lack of willing to get better is not good. that is what i like about nevermore, they keep pushing the limits in their own style, learning new things and incorperating them. and i am talking about their own instruments not song structure.

I think you should listen a little closer.

NP: John Petrucci - Glasgow Kiss

maybe YOU should listen closer. i don't think they are talentless, hell far better than half the other shit out there. BUT for being nevermore fans we should know that the guys in tool can't compare in anyway with what nevermore does. unless you are talking about the album as a whole and the (easy to do) process of making mood music with nearly silence.

for your info i've listened to the whole thing about 5 times which was more than enough for me.

the guitarist seems to have gotten slightly better, but eh. most of the songs don't show any progression, just spitting out the same songs over and over again. gets tiring. but hey, some people love that.

Wow, big on Dream Theater and Tool? Are you one of those boring and dragged out musical feeling elitists? Just curious...
