TRIGGER Intro Video and NEWS

It's flawed in that it doesn't actually protect the integrity of the product it is supposed to safeguard. All it does is inconvenience those that buy it. If there is not some core definition of 'fail' in plain view there, I must be delusional.

Thanks for the advice Steven/Alex, but I've already tried that and it didn't seem to work. Will just wait for the full version and try again.

But how is the fact that their product has been cracked, their fault? What should they do about it?

And I don't understand what's so difficult about an iLok.

By the way, is it illegal for me to crack my own software that I own?

Basically, yes. Both in the EU and the US it's prohibited to circumvent copy protection. There are, however, several exceptions noted in both laws.

Here's a little excerpt from the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (US), describing some of the applicable exemptions:

* Computer programs and video games distributed in formats that have become obsolete and that require the original media or hardware as a condition of access, when circumvention is accomplished for the purpose of preservation or archival reproduction of published digital works by a library or archive. A format shall be considered obsolete if the machine or system necessary to render perceptible a work stored in that format is no longer manufactured or is no longer reasonably available in the commercial marketplace. (A renewed exemption, first approved in 2003.)

* Computer programs protected by dongles that prevent access due to malfunction or damage and which are obsolete. A dongle shall be considered obsolete if it is no longer manufactured or if a replacement or repair is no longer reasonably available in the commercial marketplace. (Revised from a similar exemption approved in 2003.)

So by those measures, cracking your own Waves plugins (for example) wouldn't be allowed.

Oooook I think this is now bordering on the "- Do not promote piracy (that includes leakage-news)" rules.

Mayhaps we should go back to keeping this Slate and Trigger related? :Smug:

It's not punishable criminally, but if 'they' found out, they could get you in civil court for breech of the terms you agreed to.

In all honesty, the companies are more worried about people that buy it then pass it out for free, which is why they have those agreements. And at that point, then they probably could also get you criminally too.

Well I'll keep away from that. I have a business and can not get into legal trouble no matter what. Besides this is my obsessive hobby.

I'm clear on the matter now. :worship:

Thanks for the clarification those involved.

Just checked out the demo some minutes ago! GUI and handling are pretty impressive.

Unfortunatelly when using Trigger with an Protools M-Powered or LE system the plugin adds a big amount of latency . As far as i remember in accurate mode it was around 450 samples and in live mode it was still around 90 samples !!!

Any chance this will be fixed within the full release?

TRIGGER's engine as well as any other drum replacement plugin works with latency because they have a LOOKAHEAD processor. So you'll have to use a latency compensated program or manually compensate in PT LE (the only non compensated workstation that I know of).

Speaking of TRIGGER, if you go back to the downloads area, you will find a 1.1 DEMO that has the following new features:

Changes in update:
- updated user guide (check section 6.4!)
- further improved engine functionality
- added guide gradations for HPF
- added Retrigger guide lines
- fixed few minor bugs

Adam Wathan, this update fixes the bug that you were seeing :)

The final retail is not far away.

If I understand correctly, this is a drum replacer like Drumagog, but it costs significantly less and comes with A LOT of sick Slate samples?

I'm hitting this shit as soon as I can buy it! My death metal album will now sound much better. :D

Maybe a dumb question, but if you buy Trigger platinum, will you get the VSTi with it, or at least be able to use the samples with the Kontakt player?

I guess so, but an official answer would be great :)

Seems quite promising so far!

BTW, thanks to Steven and Alex for taking care of the audiomidi mess. I finally got my passcode and serial for EX.
