Umm, I've got four USB ports free at the moment, can't see the what's the big deal.

Many computers have four USB ports total (laptops even less) and you can run easily out of USB ports with such quantities. Computer keyboard, MIDI keyboard, mouse, some storage and here you go. My laptop has two ports I have both occupied during normal "on the road" work - MIDI keyboard and sound card.

Yeah, of course iLok as de facto standard is much better than it might be with "every vendor has it's own dongle shipped with free USB hub".

To me, one of the greatest things with iLok is that most of my licenses are stored in one handy USB dongle that I can take wherever I want.

Yeah. It rocks for many of us, but ... For scheme which doesn't actually don't protect from piracy it should mess less with my systems (potentially) breaking it with every os update (obfuscated kernel level driver etc). And there are other 50% of users who don't care, they use their software in their single machine anyway.

that is my only complaint with my iLok. I have no problems with it otherwise but it DID actually cause a problem to my system to where it messes up my hardware detection. Even when I manually point to the correct drivers for a new piece of hardware it sometimes just refuses, to which I have to reinstate my system back to right before I installed my iLok drivers, install the new hardware and then go through the PACE shit again

I think I may be the only one with this particular problem but I have heard from a couple of tech support guys that the drivers have cause other types of problems on other systems, machines, etc...

Slate was fairly up front to the fact that Trigger was coming out. And $150 purely for the SOFTWARE portion of Trigger is STILL a pretty decent price.

probably cause I don't see anything on slate digital saying that an iLok is bundled with the plugin. I don't even know if there's gonna be a physical box purchase option so if its download only than yeah, you'll have to get your own. They're only like $40 or so I think on sweetwater (plus free shipping)

To be clear, TRIGGER EX will come with basically one of the EX packs of drums? Then, if so, are there kits setup already like was discussed about Platinum or no?

I wouldn't be complaining if I bought Platinum last week, because I'm not dumb enough to buy it when I know Trigger is right around the corner. Way to be educated about the products you buy!

I use a macbook with only 2 usb ports and don't have a problem to be honest.

I just grabbed a cheapo USB hub from Asda (less than £5) and I use that for my Ilok, mouse, control surface and pen sticks.

If I was needing more for keyboards etc then admittedly I'd not be able to use my transit, but then that's a portable thing for me so I'm unlikely to be using that along with control surfaces and keyboards.

I bought all the EX packs some weeks ago too and I'm a bit pissed (but only because of myself not being able to wait any longer, my own fault ), but still the deal on Trigger Platinum with all SSD samples for only 150$ is just incredible, even if you already got all the samples.
I hope there's a discount on Trigger EX too because I'm totally broke now

Probably won't be a discount on EX, as it's already like $130 or $140, I think that is the lowest they will go.

I didn't say it's a problem that can't be solved, but ... It reminds me this goold old commercial.

To make it clear - I own iLok and use it. But I don't like it being the only option. I'm fan of vendors who offer the choice. iLok or challenge/response - it's your (customers) choice.

Or you could see it as your choice to choose the plugin manufacturer that gives you the option of challenge/response? (just playing devils advocate here)

Personally I prefer I-lok, as if I ever need to change to a different machine / reinstall an OS it's wayyyyyyy less hassle.

It's all just personal preference though
