TRIGGER Intro Video and NEWS

Yeah... I guess it depends on what exactly they mean by "Midi I/O"...

Kontakt really isn't that bad though. There are a lot of really good virtual instruments that use Kontakt as the sampler... like the new Alicia Keys piano VSTi for example. I think it has more to do with how well the scripting is written than Kontakt itself...

Yeah, i guess its not so bad, but what im thinking is that if this can be used as a straight-up instrument plugin it would be pretty rad,

I have EX and the Rock & Pop Vol2 expansion already but it would be cool to have all the platinum kicks and snares in one handy little plugin.

of course i'd use it for it's intended purpose some times too :)

I spent $350 on Plantium last year as well, and I'm not complaining. All you dudes complaining about $50 here, $100 there...seriously, do some paid audio work for a few hours and you'll have broken even again! Mix a song for someone's crappy band and it will be a dead issue. It's really not a big deal.

True, starting to sound like a lot of complaints from bedroom warriors who record and mix for free who finally have to pay for their first piece of software because of the iLok ;)

- Midi I/O, some DAWs like Logic and Reaper support Midi i/o via audio channel inserts. For these particular DAWs, you will be able to use TRIGGER via Midi and also send midi from audio.

- Ruckus, so you got the SSD Virtual Instrument and all the wavs and gogs for an insanely low price, and now you can get TRIGGER Platinum for half price.. I'm finding it hard to figure out why you seem so agitated.

- Soultrash, I've thought about your situation a bit more and I will insist that the cockslap have a definitive transient for best results

hope I didn't miss anything

Steven

okay, I watched the video now and Steve's voice is indeed kinda hilarious  either way, props for making a video regardless of being ill :kickass: I'm impressed by the product.

haha, yeah I did the VO with a 57 while being bedridden, I have a nasty flu that I probably picked up on the way home from Germany. Alex has a great voice and is healthy as hell but he puss'd out.

I think we're going to run the crossgrade/upgrade for a month. Thats the longest we can go without getting slack from the retailers.

Cheers,
Steven

Damn, this iLok stuff is killin' me

Wanted to use Trigger instead of apTrigga for my live laptop/drumtrigger setup (the low latency mode sounds promising ) but i'll just bet i'll lose the damn little thing on the road or it'll get yanked out of the usb port in some freak accident.

I really should force my drummer to get a ddrum4 module, rant over :erk:

What velocity will the cock slap be? And might there be some leakage? Without knowing the answer to those questions, I'm still confident the answer is YES. Good question.

:lol::lol::lol:

only very hard, tight and percussive slaps. no leakage!
the only thing that i am worried about are bad "hollow body" resonance frequencies that may cause problems.

cheers
S.

Didnt slate also mention during that $20 deal that anyone buying that will also be getting a discount on trigger, and that trigger was gonna have all the other packs included? Don't we have enough fanboys around here that have made countless threads saying almost that same info? Maybe its just me but thats enough common sense to just wait and see what trigger was all about before being so fast to pull out my credit card and jump on the other deals. To me the only thing to really bitch about would be the fact that you have to buy an ilok, which even that at 30 bucks isnt something worth complaining over. I dont remember who said it but for this plug plus the ilok its like $180....Fucking win in my book.

So just once again...

Will it be possible to bus out the different sample 'layers' to different DAW channels, so that one would be capable of processing direct, overhead and room samples individually, as they would in a full mix?

Hi Ermz, its a DAW related limitation that effects on audio channels can't have multiple outputs.. so to do what you want:

- use TRIGGER on audio file, send to SSD instrument, route instrument to multiple outs

- copy track a few times and use multiple TRIGGERS isolating the samples you want

Either way will work great, I'd do the second way. TRIGGER is not very CPU intensive.

Hey Steven, thanks for the low down. I had a hunch that the plug-in formats may be limiting in such a way.

I already have a workflow set up, very similar to the 2nd suggestion you pointed out there, and it works well enough. I'd go a step further though and use a single instance of Trigger to MIDI Out the performance data, then duplicate those MIDI tracks and feed them to however many instances of Trigger are providing sample layers. Ensures repeatability and phase accuracy between the samples if anything!

Good luck with the launch.

Man you guys are ragging on the folks who got EX for $20... :erk:

Ok I'll come out and say it. I bought an Ensemble and an Iron Cobra pedal from Musician's Friend during their President's Day sale. At the time they were shipping Slate EX for free with Apogee purchases.
So not only did I get it for free, I also got something ridiculous like 20% off my purchases. And because they shipped me the items individually they mistakenly sent me 2 free copies of Slate EX.

So don't hate the $20 guys. Hate me! :heh:

To the question, what if the kick and snare are played at the same time.. we have two scenarios:

1 - There is a slight latency between the kick and the snare, if even by a two milliseconds... in which case TRIGGER will take care of this fine with its leakage suppression

2 - The drummer is a robot and plays them perfectly aligned.. in this case you wouldn't even need leakage suppression and can just trigger off the transient

It's not really the point, the point is that those who bought the cheap version are getting the same version as those who shelled out hundreds of dollars for the same price. I mean I finally was able to buy my copy of platinum a few months ago, back when trigger was being talked about, but nobody said anything about it only coming in versions bundled with samples. Now somebody who bought ex for $20 around the same time as me gets the exact same upgrade, and also keeps $300 in their pocket.
I know this has been ranted about to death, but it just blows to not have been told about trigger coming with all the samples until a couple months ago and to have the people who bought ex to be treated like they bought platinum.
I guess it rocks for you guys though, nobody thought ex would get an upgrade haha.
