The only reason that Anthrax is in the big four is because they were a popular band from the same place as the other three. They're definitely a lower level band.

I think the first three are all master strokes of dirty, messy, tongue-in-cheek, AC/DC-inspired thrash and speed metal.

first album is not thrash metal, and i'd say it's tolerable at best.

Among the Living is pure crap.

i like 'medusa' and 'the enemy' best out of the others, couldn't find a good vid of the latter.

i don't like anthrax much though. they peaked with 'deathrider' as far as i'm concerned.

i actually have a soft spot for AMONG THE LIVING, it's dumb as fuck and frequently tips over into embarrassing lameness, but there's a goofy charm there and it's at least distinctive. it might just be nostalgia because i rarely enjoy something while simultaneously understanding how tasteful people could think it's COMPLETE shit. first two songs are the best i guess.

even that one isn't worth purchasing really unless you're a collector, it's hardly top tier speed metal. just solid.
