Viking mythology and all that goes with it

Beowulf in old or new language with explanation in current English in margin:
http://www.humanities.mcmaster.ca/~beowulf/main.html
Beowulf in OE and Current English version side by side, for comparison: http://www.heorot.dk/beo-intro-rede.html (very nice page!)
Beowulf in German:
http://www.heorot.dk/beo-intro-de.html
Either way, it is not an easy text to understand.

Enright is worth buying if you can get a copy. It is truly loaded with very important stuff and awesome references. Pollington...mmmm...depends on the price. I got a good deal on my copy. If you can find Enright, you won't need Pollington. If you have my paper, you won't need Pollington, either, as his book refers to Anglo-Saxon stuff, mine to Norse. But if they have it at the library, or the book is reasonably priced, yas, it's interesting.

Awesome. Guess I should check out Pollington tho. ;) JRR Tolkien also did a lecture or two on Beowulf, I've read some excerpts and it seems interesting, but I have yet to get my hands on a full text of it.

Yes, he did a translation of Beowulf, and he wrote some other Beowulf-related stuff, the most famous of which is Beowulf: The Monsters and The Critics.

Scary! Well, I was on Stonehenge. You have probably been on the US servers. Do you still play? I am thinking of doing it again but I would suck because the last time I logged in is about 2 years ago. My accounts will have been killed I think :(
I used to lose my way wherever I went lol... I can remember having such a laugh when one of my guild was doing the hamster number (Berserk mode, don't know what is that in english) in Muspelheim.
Well, wanna come over here? Maybe I really try it again. Memory comes back :D

Hehe, nah, I don't game so much, except in winter which already wanes. Spring time means moving, and smithing, and trying to talk my parents into letting me have half an acre or so to log and plant. ;)

Back somewhere closer to the topic... I can't seem to find any good pictures or drawings of era benches anywhere, and it is getting near spring time. Anyone seen any anywhere?

I am having reason to give thanks to the Norns for holding my destiny in such a strong way. I think it will be OK to put it here as I had this page open (what a surprise) when I once again felt the work of the mighty Norns in such a big manner. I don't want to sound missionary, but I just can't deny the truth.

Oh Norns, keep yarning the net of my destiny, I will not rebel.
Whatever should be, You defined it.
I might not see why everything is as it is now, but I have faith it is meant and for a reason.

I am just so overwhealmed right now because I received a great gift helping me to accept my fate. Even if it seems really bad at some times, that is just to balance the good things that are to come. I didn't see those good things that were destined for me, but they were already there, written in my book of life. The greater the pain, the greater the joy, it is all about balance. I think someone mentioned similar stuff before in this thread.
Uhm... people, I just wanted to share this with you. Thanks for reading.

Bates: Like rowing benches or something bigger for in a hall, let's say?
Oh, and I'll have to look up the mundane name (I only know half these people by their Norse names, and I am not familiar with this person in the first place). Maybe that'll give me a hint. I wasn't at the taping that he was part of.
