According to the people at Anus.com, newer death metal bands around today they have this "the angrier the better" attitude therefore making their music a big parody. Also they say black metal is getting stagnant with newer bands sporting this whiney I hate everyone stance.
What about the new releases by Arsis, Dryados, Deathspell Omega, The Chasm, and the like? You'd think they'd pick up on that.

Prozak rarely gives off the impression of being angry. He does, however, give the impression that he's completely given up on new metal to the point of slating virtually all new bands that get a lot of praise in elitist circles - The Chasm, for example.
He seems pretty level-headed to me. I think the thread is in reference to people like Planterary Eulogy.

Their reviews are fucking ridiculous as well. So are their laughable Thrash and Speed Metal sections.
HELL YES!!! Thank you! :kickass:

Speed Metal: TRADITIONAL METAL SPED UP.
Thank you again!!! My God, there was this guy on the Maiden board who argued with me for two pages about how speed metal was really the name for technical thrash like Annihilator or Megadeth.

Prozak makes some good points about extreme metal, but it's all lost in his attempts to look like he's smarter than he actually is. I mean, he's obviously a fairly intelligent fellow; he's just obsessed with looking like a critical genius.

And of course, he knows NOTHING AT FUCKING ALL about thrash and speed.

Nah, Prozak's been saying that BM and DM are dead for a long time.
Oh, okay. :(

Death metal percussionists often add a strict machinism to their work with the alternating full bass hits of oppositional kick drums, creating an undulating wall of sound that conditions listeners to act out the diabolical bidding of the bands and their master, Satan.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA...

I do, however, respect Prozak for all that he has done for metal over the years. Although he's slightly uptight, I wish that others would follow in his path of creating a serious movement of metal in place with information and the like. I'd just lose all the Socialist/Nihilist propaganda and definitely open it up some more. More like a more open-minded Metal Archives with intricate details(i.e. ANUS), yet not so over-the-top as to be über-geeky.

A "Random progressive metal band from Finland."

:)

I don't think sources of information should be opinionated unless it's in a review. Common sense, actually.

Anus' reviews are self-indulgent and silly. I relate much better to reviews written by people who say "The guitars are this way, the drums are this way, the bass is like this, and the vocals are like this, it is influential/it isn't influential, the songwriting is good/decent/terrible, the musicianship is good/decent/terrible, buy/don't buy."

Anus were right. In death metal people think the angrier and more "brutal" the better. hence the Deathcore hybrid. Also a lot more depressing Xasthur type black metal has been getting popular.

Oh well. As a friend of my was saying before. Metal is dead. Just a bunch of bands paying homage to their favorite bands.

Um...what? Metal isn't dead at all. It's not even elderly.

It pretty much is dead.

Older bands have stopped releasing good stuff. New and upcoming bands haven't really molded any new paths or overcome any new feats since melodic death metal in the mid nineties. Nothing interesting has happened in metal since the early nineties. Once the 80's ended the metal haydays had ended as well.

I disagree, plenty of newer bands have caught my interest, but I suppose it is just a matter of taste and not something worth arguing over.

That is true. I wasn't referring to taste though. I meant as for new ideas or building a bridge and pioneering new aspects for metal.

I agree, there are less groundbreaking bands today, but there are still bands who continue to push the boundaries of metal. Bands such as Blut Aus Nord, Intestine Baalism, etc.
