What do you see as a 'disgrace' to metal music? Why?

I got to interject in that Maiden debate. You even pasted a picture of one of their best albums, i.e. No Prayer for the Dying.

Talk about an insane album. Stand out songs include
Holy Smoke
Public Enema No. 1
Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter
Hooks in You
No Prayer for the Dying

And even the "filler" is songs like Mother Russia and Tailgunner.

Definitely in my Maiden Top 3.

This has been present for decades. See: Killers by Iron Maiden

Filler has been around for a long time. But what I meant is that you no longer have albums like Reign in Blood or Spiritual Healing. There's a higher chance of having one or two standout songs that were made into music videos and then a whole lotta crap *insert guitar slide*.

The only thing I really disagree with is Number of the Beast being equal to Powerslave in quality.

Both of those albums are apples and oranges, IMO. Number Of The Beast is straight-up metal, and Powerslave is where they start to tread into prog-metal territory. I could see them being equally great, though. Powerslave, though, was Maiden's last true quality album. Somewhere In Time and Seventh Son are OK, but were the start of Maiden's decline.

They lost me at No Prayer for the Dying. There’s a reason Adrian Smith fucked off when it was being recorded.

Maiden has some dubious songs/albums to their credit, but even the less great stuff is much better than a lot of stuff you'll hear. Their sound, and they know it. For example, check out El Dorado on The Final Frontier. Some good stuff still left in that band.
