What does your family/parents think of extreme metal?

yep, if you live under your parent's roof and they pay for your stuff you have to do what they say. that's just the way it is.

hopefully my friend's daughter will grow up to be a metal head. he's already got her wearing Slayer onesies and stuff.

same here, but I get the feeling they would rather I don't listen to it. It just so happens that my family (except me) are born-again christians.

oh by the way, not only my parents disapprove, I have a coworker named BJ (and yes, I call him "blowjob") and I asked him what he though of my music. He said "honestly, its kind of retarded". pissed me off but what does he know, he listens to 'Lil Jon and The Eastside Boys.

My mom doesn't like the "headbanging music" and "Nazi Opera" (when we listen to a german bands). My dad likes alot of what I sample (some thrash, power, industrial, speed, prog, classic) him but he doesn't like harsh vocals.

way back in 6th grade there was a kid named BJ in my class. i got in trouble numerous times for calling him blow job. the teacher's would always say "do you know what that means" and i'd always say no. those were the days.

Hmm. My mother typically doesn't care and just calls it that 'rah rah rah' music, but my father tends to enjoy some of the more proggy stuff like Opeth. The rest of the family either think i worship satan or enjoy the habitual use of *****. My own brother calls me: the dark one, dark lord, satan, lucifer; yet that's alright because i'll teach his sons the way of metal. :headbang: :headbang:

Mum didn't like my music so I moved out and got a flat. I'm glad I'm out though coz at one point Mum got all of my brother's AC/DC stuff and put it in the garage but she did give it back only he's not allowed to play 'Highway to Hell' or 'Hell's Bells'.

Dad's better, he has Iron Maiden in his collection of CDs, he's more of a classic rock and Black Sabbath fan.

My boyfriend's mum is easy-going, she's a Cradle Of Filth fan and what she used to do was instead of listening to what the media had to say about metal at the time she would read the lyrics first and was okay about it.

But she lets him play 'Dirty Deeds", "mistress for christmas', and Money talks?

I got me a Morbid Angel hoody in the mail today with the logo on the front and my Dad was upset over it because of the upside down star and the upside down cross in the logo. He said it was a knock on christ and obviously was upset though I told him I'm sorry if I made you mad and he replied I didn't get mad but I'm sure he thinks I'm into Satanic anti-Christian music but I really don't care. I'm going to wear it next week when I go to college. I also got an Emperor Anthems To The Welkins At Dusk longsleeve shirt. My Dad's response put me in a bad mood. And he knows I don't believe in God, I've told him but yet he can't accept the music, culture, or philosophy I adhere to.
