What have the ND band members been listening to lately?

Is there a new release of Tristitia after Garden of Darkness which has been released in 2002? I do have that album in digipak and it sounds great. Dark and atmospheric stuff like their old album One With Darkness. And it has an excellent cover artwork.

no that's the one I still can't find actually. how goes dead wish? i was listening to that last week...\m/

Dead Wish goes well, I'm still working on new songs and I hope that the recordigs will be finished in September.

How about Shroud of Bereavement? I heard that new releases are on the way.

It seems to me that every other Dream Theater CD is a little bit dissappointing to me at first, like when I first heard Falling Into Infinity. I thought that CD was pretty lame, but now I listen to it frequently. 6 Degrees of Inner Turbulence was a let down for me as well. My favorites are, When Dream and Day Unite, Awake, and Train of Thought.

I'd agree that every other DT album is disappointing. After Metropolis Pt. 2, I was very dismayed with 6DoIT. Just like the ToT and O relationship. I guess, judging by the formula, their next album will be great! :p

:tickled: They don't all sound like HIM

I love HIM, one of my favorites. I don't think they're whiney or puss rock. Considering the amount of girls who are crazy about them, I guess you could call it Puss rock in a different context LOL

*hint* Paul likes some HIM too, don't let him fool you.....secretly, he loves the cock I guess haha

I guess y'all, like me, have been fans of heavy music for quite some time. I'm 36 years "old" and into this kinda music since I was 14/15. The song that turned me over was "I love Rock and Roll" by Joan Jett. Then I started to like AC/DC and after that Iron Maiden. Then Metallica came out and I learned about the whole thrash scene. Who didn't, eh?

I am just glad now that melody is back and solo's are not whimpy anymore. I like the new Dream Theater, but also bands like Trivium, Mnemic and such. So i've developed my taste and I still broaden that within the heavy scene, haha :headbang:

Laughed my ass off when I read that :tickled: :tickled: :tickled:

I recently bought a HIM DVD, think that it from a concert, it wasn't but I guess it was okay... HIM has made some okay songs

Razorblade Romance is OK. Wicked Game is a great cover. The HIM thing wore off on me fast. Just too much shit sounds the same.

Larry and Joe could open a HIM store with all the crap they own. Wallets, shirts, hats, lighters, pens, scarfs, skull caps, posters, neclaces, belt buckles, cd's, dvds... Like two little school yard bitches, all moist... full on HIM whores. As far as all the girls, if your into 13 year olds that look like Hot Topic exploded on them, then I guess. I felt like the "old guy" when I went to see HIM.

And for the secret love for cock, shhhhhh.

Where's my Novembers Doom thong? You need bobbleheads too. Or Pez.

I've been listening to a lot of Bathory, the new Nevermore, Death, Control Denied ...nothing new. Some friend's bands - Vesperian Sorrow, DesolatioN, Sepia Dreamer, and Distorted. Also listening to a lot of Celtic music as of late, more bands should use bagpipes.

I think that, so long as someone got into HIM before Bam started hyping the shit out of them, you're OK. I got into them back in '98 when I saw their first "Wicked Game" music video on Beauty in Darkness: vol. 3, which also had Tiamat, Moonspell, Paradise Lost, Therion, Crematory, Dimmu Borgir, etc. I just downloaded a bootleg of them playing from '00, plus I gotta admit that I'm anxious to see all the goodies that'll be on their forthcoming DVD.

BTW, if we were to have any sort of off-the-wall ND merch, it would have to be a stuffed scarecrow like off the cover of tPHD. That would rule!

Yeah I actually got into HIM at about the exact same time as Billy did. I saw the video for "Wicked Game", and I also had some european comp cd that had "Your Sweet 666" on it, and between those two songs I was hooked. I found an import of "Greatest Love Songs Vol. 666" shortly thereafter and there you go.....
I know alot of young kids like the band and that alot of it is very "soft" by most metalheads standards, but I like alot of different stuff, and I can appreciate a well done ballad as much as I can a well done blast beat.

The new HIM dvd from europe is fantastic, it's got tons of live footage from 1998 to 2004, and even has a really rare early video of "Wicked Game" ('97 demo version) that they filmed in 1997, that looks like it was done very very cheaply LOL And my offer still stands for you to have copies of any of the live HIM stuff I have, Billy, just say the word.

And believe me, I'd love to have all sorts of crazy ND merch! I've been planning on making some ND action figures as a gag sometime, and I think I now have the resources to pull it off. If I make them, I will surely post pics of them on the forum!

Then listen to In Extremo from Germany!!!! They just have a new album out...

Believe it or not, but I decided to take the plunge and check out HIM due to you! I completely agree with you. All the songs are about girls and how much we all love them. There's nothing gay about that!

As for Rapture, they're a graet band, and the new album is very good. While I think overall the album isn't as good as 'Songs for the Withering', I do think 'Misery 24/7' is the most amazing song the band has ever written. The lyrics alone continue to stun me.

good to hear man! can't wait to hear the new stuff. and i'd still like to do the trades we were talking about a few months back.

yeah we are putting 3 cd's out this year. on 2 labels. we just dropped off the master for one cd to be pressed this week, our second release was just sent to europe to escapie for dups, and we just got done recording our 3rd release, a split with va. band withersoul on oak knoll productions. Paul from nd actually did the artwork for that one., and it looks killer i might add.
