I love Camel. Their only fault is that nobody in that band could ever sing. But I can see that they had a huge influence on the early Opeth albums, especially Morningrise. Both Mikael and Anders left a thanks to them in the booklet.

i agree that on most albums the singing is shit, but its not a fault. it just adds to the cheese which is part of what makes camel so sweet. And its not always shit, stationary traveller has sweet singing. i'm sure the singing is good on other albums aswell but they're not coming to mind now. camel are the shiz.
Most of the songs are just classic Sabbath but mixed with sort of some of the feelings of the song The Court of the Crimson King. I wouldn't call it progish but just more emotional. Ozzy's voice is rougher/more strained too.
I've made up a "final" list:
1. Opeth
2. Tool
3. Meshuggah
4. Black Sabbath
5. Alice in Chains
6. Daylight Dies
7. Ihsahn
8. Arcturus
9. Between the Buried and Me
10. Porcupine Tree
