After Chicago and some packed stores, I know there has to be a lot of new stuff w/ mini-reviews out there so let's hear them!
I just got the new Rage cd and I gotta tell ya, I don't like it. Well, at least the 1st half. It's reminding me of Kansas meets Savatage with the keys and it's not until track 9 that we get "classic" Rage. Prog fans should like this one more than their last few, I'd guess. Very lukewarm to it and then I got the Nuclear Blast limited metal box edition of it to boot. If any of you were considering this box or the Kataklysm box that they offered, it's not really anything worth the extra money. I got the Digi version with a numbered card and that's it for the 20 Euro.
Freak Kitchen: Organic. It's tough not to like FK.
Wig Wam: Wig Wamania. These guys are at the top of the melodic hard rock heap right now. It's too bad their image is kinda hokey, because their songs are tight as shit. Love this band.
Eldritch's new cd: Just like their show; middle of the road on it.
Shakra "Fall": I'd heard a few snippets and I didn't like what I heard, but I thought I'd try it anyway. It's a grower and it's a move to the modern for Shakra, but overall it works for me.
Lacrimas Profundere: I got 2 of their cds at Metal Haven and neither is as good as Ave End. I think the one is called "The Burning" (it's upstairs and I'm too lazy to go see). That one is a bit mellow and boring for me. The other is one of their first cds and I'm not into it at all. Of course, I think they hit a high point with Ave End.
