I died so many times listening to the solo in In The Name Of God the other day.
I really love the album and can stomach a lot of the solos by listening to everything but the guitar meanwhile, but good god the solo in In The Name... is just too shitty. Yeah, it's the fastest solo I've ever heard, and just as well the most terrible one, mind a few nu-metal bands' solos!

Petrucci could just stick with writing awesome riffs like in Home and In The Name...

I know that there is lots of DT hate in here, so i thought it would be fun to make this slightly on topic poll

itll probably turn out lame

I would:

1) Bitch that I have to waste money on Dream Theater

2) Make fun of their singer

3) Go to the show and get drunk as Dream Theater played. These are the same things I did during Moonspell.

His solo in Home is incredible. It just keeps building up to a climax; first perfectly in the song.

Sure, he has written some good solos too. I can't remember the one in Home too well...I guess the case tends to be so that I only remember the bad solos, because I'm not much a guitar (/bass/synth/drum) solo person. They're nice of course and very often needed, but still. I'll have to give Home another listen tonight and pay attention to the solo.
