Nope, runs all my 32 bit apps with ease. Only one i've had a problem with is VLC media wplayer which, when loaded, shuts off the aero graphics and makes them solid.

Sonar works amazingly in 32 bit and 64. I just installed 32 bit one and it seems plugins work a tiny bit better due to the lack of need for bit bridge...

Also, I have a legal real deal version of XP Pro right now...5 dollars student discount (thank to my drummer). I used this to install XP Pro on my home PC...Can I use this again for my laptop? You have to call or get online to activate the software, which is why I thought you couldn't use it again. Anyone know if I can use this twice?

I asked a friend of mine who is a System Administrator and he sad two registrations for the same copy should be no problem.

I don't know why you keep repeating this.

My experiences with multiple Dual-Core G5s running OS X and ProTools 7.1 have been shite. On numerous occasions I have had them shit-out on me halfway through tracking a session.

It's down to the person. I currently run Nuendo and ProTools 7.3 on Windows XP Professional with absolutely no problems. That's because I know how to set-up and maintain my machine. Whether it's a Mac or PC it doesn't matter, it's about knowing to use either.


Back to the thread, I look forward to all the issues with Vista being ironed out, and all the driver manufacturers catching up. By most accounts, where Vista has worked, people have claimed improved performance over XP which is good news.

So I've had the notebook up and running Nuendo with no problems...However, I can't use my Waves plug ins unless I use them as Direct X plugs...For some reason, Nuendo isn't seeing the Waveshell, so the Waves stuff doesn't show up in my VST plugs list.

Any ideas?

Ilok isn't supported under vista?

Yeah, Ijust did a search on Waves forum, and oneo f the Waves tech staff said that Waves isn't compatible with Vista, and he had no idea of future updates.

BUT...I can see and use all of the Waves plug ins just fine through my Direct X plugin folder. All of my Waves plugs show up there and seem to work fine.

Is there any difference in performance or sound by using Direct X versions of these plug ins vs. the regular VST plugs?

just to elaborate, when I load Nuendo and watch what the Nuendo lading screen says is initializing, the Waveshell never shows up...The first time I loaded up nuendo after installing the Waves bundle, I got an error saying the waveshell wasn't found or something, which can happen with Cubase or Nuendo according to Waves site. They said to just restart the recording program, so I did. this time it loaded fine, but the waveshell didn't even show up as initializing. But, then all the plugs are in my direct X plug in folder, which I could see initialized fine as Nuendo was loading up.

Has anyone had any difficulties with recording software not being compatible with vista?

In general, do XP users need to update their programs or do they work ok on Vista?
