It's been almost a year now sence i've moved to the place I live in now . When I first came here , believe it or not , In Flames was one of my favorite bands , music is a big thing in the school I go to , a very big thing , when I met alot of people , they asked me what kind of music I liked , and I said , stuff like In Flames , nevermore , of course they didn't have a clue who those bands were (exept for one chick in my class) . So anyway , I went to see and In Flames concert and came back to my school , and for month's all I talked about was In Flames , In FLaMEs , IN FLAMES , and after a while , they started to ask what in flames sounded like , so I told them , the guitars are kind of like old Metallica but a bit heavier , the vocals are distorted (and gave the example cradle of filth which they all know about) . In my school your concidered a freak , crazy , out of your mind lunatic if you don't like old metallica so they wanted to hear In Flames . And played it for 60 or 70 people that were interested in hearing them , other than about 30 people headbanging to Moonsheild most of the people were discusted in the vocals , I told them that it would take them a while to get used to the vocals but once you start to get used to them you'll like in flames more . THe next day a few people gave me blank tapes to tape of In Flames , I didn't want to do it but I knew that they would buy the cd (thats the kind of people that are in my school) . So I spent two days doing off 26 copy's of Clayman for people in my school . Anyway to make the stroy shorter , there is alot of people in my school that like In Flames now , and it's starting to spread to other school , people started asking me to bring in my guitar and play all In Flames with as much distortion as possible . I know a few people have ordered a few In Flames t's .

Anyway i'm glad to hear that a few people are into In Flames and bands with distorted vocals but the problem is , are people liking them because there friends like em or are they liking them because they enjoy the music . And i'd really hate to start a trend of metal in the school (I like to be different than other's ) .

Tell me if you think i've done a good deed or not , i'm very confused .

In Flames! In Flames! In Flames!! I love them! I know alot of people don't like their most recent achievements, but the people who tear Clayman and Colony down are probably the ones who would also tear down BWP and Still Life, merely because they were a change. I don't really like the vocals on alot of the Clayman songs, not because they sound slighty Kornish, but because I think they guy doesn't really have that great of a voice. I mean he pulls off songs like Everything Counts, Resin and Colony very well, but the extended parts of the really soft singing is something that should be worked on.

Aside from this. That's a Great deed, warsofwinter! Who cares if In Flames is popular? If you are the one to make them a trend, they didn't sell out to get that way, their music is still good, what's it matter what other people think. Hell if everyone in the world could appreciate In Flames, I think it would be a much more pleasant world. So spread the good news, do the good deed, in the end, you have a school full of people you can talk In Flames with. Next stop, Opeth.

Kudos.

i agree. In Flames is a great band and anybody who doesnt like them just because their slightly popular is a moron. I mean do you like them for the music or not? if you stop liking them just because their fan base is no longer 500 people then you dont listen to it for the music. If you dont like In Flames guitar then there is something wrong with you cause they have some of the most beautiful melodies ever. GREATNESS! it sucks that they are touring with such a crappy band as slipknot and american head charge.

Okay, I'm prepared. I know I will get ALOT of flak for this, but in defense of Slipknot:

Today, while i was at the local mall, (my sister begged me to take her), I stopped by the record store in it, and noticed that slipknot had a new album out. Out of sheer curiousity, since I had heard that it would be alot different than their frist release, which was really more rap than anything else, (though I confess I like 2 songs off the album), I listened to most of the album. And surprise! It really isn't bad; it's metal for a change. Something happened to them, I don't know what, but their new release, though it isn't anything special, is at least respectable. I don't think it's enough to make me buy it, just as I haven't bought the new Pantera, but they can no longer be the very lowest grade of comparison. And please, before you make fun of me, check it out. Don't buy the album, but at least listen to it, if only for FYI purposes.

Kudos.

i shall back you up on the Slipknot post. hell the album starts out with a BLAST!!!, of course that doesn't make it automatically cool or anything but it is, like you said, respectable in the least. now let us prepare together for the blasts of hate posts we receive....hee hee.
good day to all,
Jay
