ARCH ENEMY

The first thing I checked was that it wasn't some dodgy unmastered CDR promo but it looks like the real deal. It was Mastered at Tailor Maid in Sweden.

We've just A/B'ed the new CD with my trusty Doomsday disc and it's laughable how bad the new one is in comparison.

No doubt man.....I just bought the new one yesterday and the guitar tones on Doomsday own this album. Still good though and I've been listening to it alot the past couple of days.

im a fan of this cd to be honest. Its different. I found the last few albums to be repetative. The solos, and riffing are way more advanced, and the production is a little gritty. Reminds me of the old days with johan. I like the guitar sound aswell, especially the leads. A sneap mix is a sneap mix. you know that what you get is gonna be great, but im happy they decided to change it up.

Despite the fact that I don't like the rhythm sound, I agree with everything else you said here for the most part. The new leads are just off the chain. Plus the feel of the album is more old school.

haha they could get andy to re-amp the guitars
for a special limited edition (the way it should have sounded version)

and i cant agree on any sence of progression on this album
to me it sounds like a leap backwards as already mentioned old school almost.
nothing new here, i dont see any reason to listen to this album over
doomsday machine and thats the last ill be saying :p

kick ass songs and a nerve grating guitar sound.
seriously, those songs, with a sneap production, and it would be one of the best, if not THE best album of the year. this way, it's just *really* good. imho.

Pretty decent album after a few listens. The things that bother me are the drums seem a little too low in the mix and the vocals just sound weird to me.

I'm praying for a Sneap remix ala Enemies Of Reality, because the songs do sound good, but the mix sounds very amateur to me, I feel most of the guys here on the forum could have done a better job. I don't dislike Nordstrom's mixes, I loved the latest Dimmu mix wise, but I just don't like this lol.

I didnt even like the mix on the new album
i thought it was over produced and i obsoloutly hate the kick
its so irritating, guitars havent much of a destinctive tone either,
dont like the new album musically either to me its just a bunch of riffs
chucked together no actual structure just riff after riff, they should have stuck with abyss studio and peter
for that one.

anyways back to arch enemy, i managed to get the kick that was used in doomsdaymachine
im at work at the mo : ( but ill post this on my esnips later it sounds NICE!

Been listening to this a lot today, and I seriously do think this could be the album of the year if Andy re-mixed it haha. Well actually, all that needs doing is the vocals need that strange verb taken off them, and the drums need to come up, and it would sound a lot better.

i thought the same thing man i thought the whole kit was very similar to doomsday but
totally washed out with reverb especially the toms theres an insane gated reverb on there
and the snare is pritty similar - the attack
there is no attack on this damn snare its gets severely lost in the mix at times.
anyways i lasted 3 songs lastnight then i put on Bathory Nordland and
thats the 1st time ive ever said wow the mix on this bathory actually isnt too bad !
