Damn. I guess being big time metal superstars finally went to their heads or something. Hah, I don't know.
The last time I saw them, some crazy broad standing next to me went nuts because she grabbed a bunch of Simen's hair from his bass. That was kind of...odd.

You're not the first person to say they were good live. I dunno, I seen them open for Porcupine Tree and didn't like them at all.

Iron Maiden was the greatest i've seen live. There were some other impressive shows, but i can't remember for the life of me what they were, 151 and cokes do that to the memory i guess.
Going to see Masters of Metal in August in PA, hoping that will be a fucking show to remember.

So far in the past year and a half the bands that caught my notice were.
Behemoth, Nile, 3IOB and Chtonic at ozzfest 07
Nachtmystium, Insect Warfare, Pig Destroyer, Backstabbers INC, and Skeletonwitch at Dudefest 08
Hate Eternal,Skeletonwitch, Toxic Holocaust and Soilent Green
Belphegor, Immolation, Averse Sefira and Rotting Christ
Skinless, Demiricous, Inferneaon and Vital Remains
Theres more i say one of the best live bands i have seen so far is Vital Remains. They killed it the two times i have seen them in 2008.

Dimmu Borgir was great at Ozzfest 05 and in 2002 when i saw them at the House Of Blues in Chicago.

Ozzfest 07 had a lot of good acts though LOG was complete crap there then I saw them again 2 months later and they were really good. Even if you don't like LOG you can at least appreciate the drumming, the Solos, and the wall of death.

Amon Amarth were fantastic live. Can't wait to see them again in October.
3 were also fucking amazing.
Needless to say, Iron Maiden are unbelievable live and everyone should go.
High on Fire are amazing live despite being pretty boring on album.
He Is Legend are good live despite being gay on album.
Dragonforce are excellent live - they make some mistakes, I guess, but you don't really notice or care when you're right up there, and it's a great time.
Kataklysm are a fantastic live band. Very fucking headbanging.
In Flames are excellent live. Can't wait for a full US tour.
Megadeth seem like they'd be great live, but I've seen them twice from the front row and while it was definitely quite enjoyable, I got kind of bored by the end.
I really want to see Dark Tranquility live, as well as a full set from Kataklysm, and I want to see Motorhead one of these days.

Although I doubt I would have enjoyed Cryptopsy. I think Black Dahlia would have been fun as well.

Cryptopsy's set was MUCH better than anticipated, in that they didn't play any shit material. From NSV they played "Slit Your Guts" and ended the set with "Phobophile" and the place went nuts.
Vader's set was solid, a bit muddled in sound, but great if you know the songs. All the scene kids were confused at this point in the concert because there weren't any breakdowns. Vader played:

Kataklysm was amazing, especially since their sound was a hell of a lot clearer (no rhythm guitar helps). Maurizio at one point called out all the posers and scene kids in the audience and told them to go fuck themselves. Their setlist was:

Taking the World by Storm
Crippled and Broken
Shadows and Dust
The Road to Devastation

I thought Dying Fetus was pretty awesome when I saw them on the CC/Necrophagist tour. I cant even stand em on CD either
