Black Metal.

De Magia Veterum has a new album out, and from my first couple of attempts, it's among the most difficult things I've ever heard, though comments on other songs indicate this is a rather poor quality upload.

By comparison, this song from their previous album has a lot more melody and room for the riffs to breathe in a similarly hectic structure:

The new Aosoth is pretty stellar IMO. Best album I have heard this year.

Oh shit, how could I miss this, is it anywhere near the standard of the self titled?

Thanks, great music.

Let‘s discuss One Tail, One Head, a new black metal band from Norway.

An Autumn for Crippled Children is releasing their new album Everything on September 1st. Fucking stoked on that. Hopefully they expand on all the depth that was present in Lost.

You guys ever check this site out? http://www.lurkerspath.com/category/articles/

Looks interesting. I've only read an article or two so far, but I could see this easily eating several hours over the next few weeks. Updates seem rather infrequent, but since I have a lot of the archive to catch up on, I won't mind.

Found it along with this link (http://www.lurkerspath.com/2010/02/22/leviathan-demo-discography-1998-2002/) which should provide me with a lot of entertainment in the future. My early perusal of the songs suggests that Verrater and the other official Leviathan comp releases are rather comprehensive, and a lot of the demos are full of alternate versions of the same songs, or just have plenty of bits and pieces of things that show up as late as the final Leviathan album. The non-metal cover songs are a point of interest, and Shadow Of No Light seems like the best overall. A Silhouette In Splinters works great as an ambient collection on its own. The entirety of the demos is for diehards only, but anyone who was really into Verrater will want to check these out. They make it pretty clear that suicidal black metal bands are one of a wide range of influences for Leviathan, and the categorization of the band as such is misleading. The best known releases are probably Xasthur/Leviathan and Tenth Sub-level of Suicide, but I don't think any of the other releases really (musically) approach what suicidal/depressive black metal is these days.

Holy shit, Blake and Schopenhauer! My interest is piqued.

Also, De Magia Veterum is interesting.

Just got my copy of Obsequiae's album in the mail today and am listening to it right now.

I've got to say I'm damn impressed.
