I never considered getting into them because their name sounds like "Camp-Fire", which is hard to take seriously. I have heard good stuff from their first album, though.

The second wave is basically over by '97, if not earlier in some people's minds. I haven't come across much relevant material between '98 and '00, but starting in about '01, it seems bands became of quality again. I guess you could consider black metal this decade to be third wave. I'd be interested to know what other people think about this.

The big problem is definining the third wave. What is it? Other than that it is not the second wave?

Not at all. It's basically prog/traditional. There are next to no elements of black metal in it.

I only have Written in Waters, but its a damn good album for sure.

Anyone a fan of Ulver? One of my friends recommended that I check them out so I bought Nattens Madrigal. Haven't listened to it yet.
