I don't have time to dig that deep into a genre that doesn't really interest me that much. I'd rather dig deeper into thrash or melodic death metal.

I've been meaning to pick up some older Enslaved and Borknagar, but that's about it in terms of black metal

Shadows of Old is definitely worth picking up. Even though it's essentially Death Metal it still retains some of the dark folky influence that made their early material so utterly brilliant.

I agree. I actually enjoy this one about equal with "Beyond the Wandering Moon".

Mgla - Groza is satisfying. They could have managed to put another song on there maybe. I was hoping they would play the style they did on Crushing the Holy Trinity, but I guess that was a one-off of sorts. Everything after that sounds more like Kriegsmaschine, which shares some members with Mgla. But better than that.

Yes, it's good. Full of anger - as always, while mixed with melodic that fits it perfectly. Great vocals - as always. Though I heard some ppl saying that album is not that special. I think it's good.

Then I'd say you're safe this time, given that you can't go wrong with any of his first five albums.
