i don't know why bwp gets shat on by the opeth haters, i guess they don't like good riffs and solid songwriting. either that or those 12 minute songs are too radio friendly for those that can't make up their mind between what they like v. what they think they aren't supposed to like.

either way, deliverance is better. very solid extremely hypnotic death metal, has a great intangible quality that i still don't know what it is, but am thankful it's there. one of the few death metal albums i go back to time and time again and think "these dudes are on to something" because they are. and stuff.

Deliverance, easily. The title track IS one of the best songs evAr and I adore Master's Apprentices almost equally.

I actually think BWP is my least favoUrite Opeth release. Been listening to them all recently and that one seems to be the most boring (aside from Damnation obviously). And I haven't heard the new one yet.

Deliverance is great! Just listened to it from end to end, and yeah, it fits summer going into autumn pretty well.

The title track on BWP is easily better than all of Deliverance. But in overall quality, both really suck.

BWP...I see a lot of "Opeth jumped the shark" comments on that one, probably from the same people who blame Steven Wilson for everything they dislike about the albums he produced...while they do start to repeat themselves on half the tracks, it's more consistent than Deliverance and I still think Bleak and Drapery are brilliant.

A true toss up for me - Deliverance the song is the best song on either album, but Blackwater Park is simply more memorable and consistent throughout. BP means more to me as well - it made me go back and appreciate My Arms, Your Hearse and Still Life so much more.

I voted for BWP even though the middle (tracks 4-6) wasn't very good. Deliverance has it's moments but it bored me fast.
