Chicks in Metal

I'm an American of thick German and Dutch(amongst other things) descent. I have reddish-brown hair naturally. I have dark green eyes. But I'm busty and can shred. And I'm 5'8.

I guess I don't make the cut anyway.

Well first off I havent seen you shred or your tits so no, you do not count. :Smug:

And shredding isn't strumming chords becuase I've only seen chicks do that.

of course she counts. She doesn't have to show you or anyone her tits.
She's not like every chick, and yes, she can shred laps around you.

I've been playing for 7 years, I have a huge guitar collection, I play a Les Paul Custom and I shred harder than Alexi.

I don't partake in the pussy chord strumming. I'm not amused.

Cool. Lets see it. And I don't mean your boobs. :loco:

good thread btw.

I definetly respect chicks in metal, its just another "step" for women to show themselves that they can do anything that men can do. my fav. band with a girl singer is definetly Arch Enemy, Angela, is AMAZING. the first time i heard them i thought it was like a total hardcore singer guy. when i found out it was a girl i was like...man thats ghey. but now its freakin sweet.

I love those girls!

They are not girls that want to be men in metal...

There's a difference between being openly feminine and being over-the-top righteous.

Kim is in between however I don't think she does much for a stage, though her voice is OK is some respects.

Angela doesn't act like a man, and as far as I know she doesn't want to be seen as another man in metal. The woman shows cleavage onstage. However she COMMANDS and OWNS the stage more than almost every musician I've ever seen. Disagree all you want, but she's superior to many many men in metal.

I don't like that band, personally.

But my point is that this is a sexist discussion. Just the fact of wondering if women can own as much as men or whatever is totally sexist.

You believe this is a sexist discussion. Maybe some of us don't agree.

If you feel that way then please don't participate in the thread. I created the thread, I'm a woman. I don't look at it as sexist, I look at it as realistic and was curious about others' views concerning the topic. This was for insight, not to promote sexism.

I didn't create the thread to debate over whether women belong in metal or not. It's more of an inquiry asking other posters their thoughts about the varying approaches women use in presenting their music and how they present themselves/represent their bands as a whole.

I'm a female musician and I chose to bring up the topic because I'm fully open to others' opinions.

I expected everyone to interpret my proposal through a different medium. I got many different types of comments, all of which were/are useful; because they're from the somewhat general fanbase, not being particularly biased.

The thread isn't about whether you care for the bands or not. I like Sinergy but I still mentioned Kim as a frontwoman I'm not fond of as a performer.
