Controversial Opeth Opinions

I had DM on my ipod for about 3 days.. then I removed it.. absolute horrbile album to be honest.

back to topic:

BWP and Watershed are better than all their other albums, together.

you sir have lost your marbles. now I will enjoy some suds while listening to still Life from start to finish. Thank you.:headbang::kickass:

i`ve never been in a FF conncert... and i really hate that..

I`ve seen opeth this year, it was like a dream come true, and yes... they just play live amazing... i think, with muse and radiohead, are the best bands i saw live.

but i expect in this year or the other, go into US to catch a concert of the best band in hisotry, the foos. I´m pretty sure they wont let me down.

I'm sure they won't.

Have all of their DVD's? if so; which one is your favourite?

Replace BWP with Ghost Reveries and you have my opinion.

Oh, and I listened to Death Magnetic for 2 weeks before throwing it in the trash, not 3 days. It's a decent album, but listening to it with headphones fucking sucks. It had to be thrown away.

download the "eetfunk" remix, no (...t much) clipping, audible bass and better drums! he used the tracks from guitar hero, lol.

it sucked live too :p

lol MAYH lyrics are nonsense, they're just poetic nonsense so some people actually buy into it. Still Life's follow the trend properly, I'll give you that, but despite the concept factor they're still weak for other reasons. Like..when I want to show someone Opeth, I would want to show them a good ballad but I shy away from showing them Face of Melinda or Benighted because the lyrics are so cheesy. The Baying of the Hounds, Heir Apparent, and the Lotus Eater have pretty good lyrics.
I agree that Still Life and most of Opeth's lyrics are nonsense, but I kind of like some of the lyrics of MAYH. Whereas Still Life comes off as melodramatic and cheesy, MAYH feels genuine somehow... stuff like "I don't know how or why, and I'll never know when." I love that line.

I'm not really a huge Opeth fan anymore (hence why I don't post here) but I still really like MAYH. Never heard anything quite like it.

As for a 'controversial' opinion... it seems to me at least like Opeth have started to write long songs just for the sake of being long. They have some good 10+ minute tracks, but more recently with stuff like Harlequin Forest, Hex Omega, Hessian Peel... I dunno, I know a lot of people like those songs but I think they just go nowhere. I think it'd be interesting if they switched it up and released an album of heavy songs no longer than 5-6 minutes.

Samsara is an asshole for locking the Frober thread. Or perhaps the forum members are assholes for MAKING him close it? I guess the latter is the one I am looking for.

I think Ayn Rand would provide closure to the topic of Jack Frober:
"Why ask useless questions? How deep is the ocean? How high is the sky? Who is Jack Frober?"

On topic: Porcelain heart is useless. I enjoy the end of Burden.

actually I was just bullshitting, and it would be an opinion untill he came out and told people he a-tuned his vocals, which I doubt. So, it is an opinion, and controversial too to all the "Mikael has God's voice" fans out there.
