Cradle of Filth

An opinion is not FACT. Sorting through opinions helps you come to an informed decision, but someones opinion is NEVER wrong.

Thank you Captain Obvious. But since there are no facts about a band being better than another (depending on how you interpret "better"), all we have to rely on is our opinions. And remember, just like an asshole, everyone's got them. But nobody wants to see them. So keep your asshole to yourself.

but we tend to love pornstars' assholes more than our own id assume so where do the chips fall there mattjew

It's my opinion that gravity doesn't exist.

Ah, someone was bound to come up with some witty reply like that sooner or later.

Haven't heard everything they've ever done, but so far my favorite album by them is "Bitter suites to succubi", then "Cruelty and the beast" and then "Midian" and "Dusk and her embrace" together.

Someone's opinion can be wrong if it is based in fact and not upon subjective observation. Like if I say "I am of the opinion that this here plastic bottle is not made out of plastic," I'm fucking wrong. My opinion is wrong.

... and that's all I have to say.

I like C.O.F but Dani looks both ridiculous and fatheaded ugly in that picture.

this is probably one of the best bands to constantly get shit on on here. sometimes i swear that in order to achieve success/greatness you have to be truly hated

Even when I was just getting into metal I never got into CoF that much, largely because I think Dani's vocals are unbearable at time (The only CD I actually own is Vempyres). But I've known enough fans of them to become pretty well-versed in their catalogue over the years, and I really can't say I think they're BAD, regardless of how you categorize them. I even enjoyed some newer songs I've heard in recent years. They were always just one of those bands I never explored much because there were always a gazillion other bands I wanted to check out first. I do think they get more shit than necessary though.

first album i heard was damnation and a day and as soon as i heard dani i hated it but now i really enjoy his voice for the most part. the ep you got is cool but his vocals are iffy at spots for me. cruelty and the beast shows them at there best i think and dani sounds great on that one: not as high pitched and unintelligible and he wasn't using his horrid death-grunts yet.

This is hands down my favorite band of the 90's. People always bitch at me about this shit, but it's true god dammit. Their only true black metal release, Principle of Evil Made Flesh, totally destroys most black metal albums I've ever listened too and I don't even think it's their best release.

Anyone who doesn't like Dusk and Her Embrace should simply be shot. Cruelty's another great album, and Midian is my favorite album of this new millenia so far. Midian's the album that really lured me out of the nu-metal and industrial scene and I'm forever grateful to it.

When people tell me that bands like Emperor, Mayhem, and Darkthrone were better it annoys the hell out of me. I find it so hard to get into their albums, and it's not just for the trademark underproduction. I just think the riffs they make are just boring. Seriously, the only song on Anthems to the Welkin I've listened to more than once is The Loss and Curse of Reverence. The rest is just so sub par.

I think people just have a sell out bias, because I find it so hard to fathom how people place F'ing Emperor over Cradle. I smell flames a comin.

PS: Dani Filth, best lyricist in music.

I like Cradle of Filth. In fact back when I was in high school (when Dusk was released) they were my favorite band. However the quality of their music has been declining since Midian. I agree they catch alot of unnecessary shit but I wouldn't say they are WAY better than Darkthrone or Emperor, etc. Those are excellent bands as well.
