Not really. (referring to the "cannon-shot" statement) If you dislike palm muting, I can see why you dislike brutal death, and why you like black metal better than death metal.I'm not a fan of palm muting. It's like a cannon-shot to the wall of sound that keeps me engaged in the music.
If you guys want heavy, Celtic Frost type riffing, check out Cianide. I own a 'Descent Into Hell' and it's heavy as hell. No pun intended.
I second that. Cianide rules.
Thats whats great about death and black metal. I love em both. Not really. (referring to the "cannon-shot" statement) If you dislike palm muting, I can see why you dislike brutal death, and why you like black metal better than death metal.
I remember when Krig hated black metal. Ahhh, memories...
I love palm muting. It's an essential part and defining element of death metal and thrash. Of course, it's pointless to play every single note muted, but lots of palm muting is a good thing. On a different, yet related note, has anyone else noticed that black metal generally has very very little palm muting, and a lot of it has none at all?

Me too. I think palm muting acually makes music heavy. A low powerchord played muted on a downtuned guitar is as heavy as fuck. This goes beyond brutal death; it's also what makes bands like Asphyx so heavy.I love palm muting. It's so satisfying
Anyone else getting excited for the Order From Chaos re-issues by NWN Prod!? I know I am.
for Celtic Frost esque death metal everyone needs to hear Divine Eve and Crimson Relic
